Classic Rock Bottom

NEW (and classic) VIDEOCORNER#37 - MILLION DOLLAR RELOAD, FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND & THE KINKS

Million Dollar Reload - "Broken"

“Broken” is the new video from the Irish hard rock band MILLION $ RELOAD, which comes off the group’s second album, “A Sinner’s Saint”, released last July via Frontiers Records.

Funeral For A Friend | ‘The Distance’

“The Distance” is the new video from U.K. post-hardcore veterans FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND. The song comes off the band’s sixth studio album, “Conduit”, which will be released in North America on Tuesday, February 5 via The End Records.

The Kinks - Do It Again

The first track on Kinks 1984-album "Word Of Mouth". A little information about that album:

Though never released as a single, the track "Living on a Thin Line" by Dave Davies is one of the most popular songs on the album and was played thrice in the 2001 episode "University" of the American TV show The Sopranos. According to producer Terence Winter on the DVD extras, it is the series' most asked about song.

The song "Do It Again" was featured in the film Click (released in 2006), and in trailers that were promoting the film.

Million Dollar Reload--3 snipes

Parts of the song sounded like Night Ranger. Song wasn't too bad for a power ballad. And this is their second album? They look old, they must have done other stuff before this? So was the girl in the video a hooker, a drunkard or just a lost soul? She also looked a bit like Rihanna.

Funeral For a Friend--0 snipe

What, screamo? This held no interest for me. The guy was shouting the words and then shouted a little bit louder in other parts. And the melody is something I've heard before but I can't place my finger on where. It just sounds like generic skateboard punk music. And the video was bland, kinda like the lead singer doing nothing but being...bland.

The Kinks--4 snipe

When I first heard this song, I was happy that The Kinks went back to rock since I thought that the previous album, "State Of Confusion" was wimpy (and wrongly so). I actually hunted down a CD of this album a month or so ago and am going to listen to it this week. This song and "Living On A Thin Line" I remember quite vividly, the rest of the album I have no clue. But when I got it, except for those two songs, I didn't like it. Anyway, video is funny and goofy. ANd yes, "Living On A Thin Line" is a GREAT song, if you haven't heard it, hunt it down.

Million Dollar Reload (6/6 Icy Killer Salmon Sharks)

First, I'm watching Icy Killer Salmon Sharks on NatGeo TV, therefore the proper rating scale.  I love a good ballad, and this is a damn good ballad.  Niels, I'm pretty sure you've posted this band before in NMC.  Was it this album?   When the singer hits the high notes, he sounds a bit like Mark Slaughter.  The video is okay, it doesn't make a lot of sense but it doesn't detract from the song, and it looks like it has a happy ending.  Nice pick here Niels.

Funeral For A Friend (4/6 Icy Killer Salmon Sharks)

I was planning on hating this based on Jon's comment, but this wasn't a bad song.  It's short, which is almost always good.  The video kicked it up a bit for me.  It reminds me of my Pharmacy School days, fraternity brothers, a particular road trip using a UGA van, a particular brother kicking out the window on I-95, and the ensuing onslaught of excuses to give the University when we returned home.  Good times man, good times.

The Kinks (4/6 Icy Killer Salmon Sharks)

This is okay, a little better than average.  The song that is, not really the video.  I think the Kinks are okay, but I've never been a huge fan.  My favorites by them would be Low Budget and Wish I Could Fly Like Superman, although I don't think that's the proper title.  I do like the guitar on this tune.  It's not extended by any means, but it fits the song really well.

(Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman.

Thanks Jonster.  I needed those parenthesis.

Yes. With those the song title makes more sense.

No, RJ, it was the album before this one. The 2012- album was not as good, as the one I posted about a year ago.

MILLION DOLLAR RELOAD ... 4 Recovery pins

Nice tune, not great but better than good.  I heard GNR, REM, and 80's influences.

FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND ... 0

Yah, just a zero, couldn't think of anything nice to say, so its just nothing!  blah...  Same old same old new stuff.

THE KINKS ... 3 "will work for food" signs

The tune sounds totally familiar and the video does as well.  But I've completely forgotten about the tune until just now.  I liked it, but a Kinks fans does not one song make!
