Yes, I know we are supposed to feature 2 albums each week. But I wanted to go with 3, so here we are. Hey, at least I didn't do a mega-post with 6 albums, which I gave serious consideration. Anyway, click any album cover to check these albums out. Enjoy.
3 Doors Down - Time Of My Life (2011)
1. Time Of My Life
2. On The Run
3. She Is Love
4. My Way
5. Believer
3 Doors Down is an American band that hails from the great state of Mississippi. Time Of My Life is their 5th studio album. So far, they have 3 multi-platinum albums and 1 gold album. Honestly, that's not to bad these days. I have all 5 and I must say that I'm quite surprised with this one. The first 2 are very good, but the next two were definitely a step down. I wasn't gonna buy this one because I didn't care for the last album, but I did it anyway. And I'm satisfied with my decision. In a nutshell, 3DD's biggest problem is their desired to write slow pop ballads. Don't get me wrong, Brad Arnold has a great voice and can definitely sing those songs, but he can sing the rockers too. Even if you don't like 3DD, give this a try.
Theory Of A Deadman - The Truth Is...(2011)
6. Hurricane
7. The Truth Is...
8. Drag Me To Hell
9. We Were Men
10. Careless
Theory Of A Deadman is a Canadian rock band from British Columbia. The Truth Is...happens to be the band's 4th release. Of the first 3, they have 3 platinum (in Canada) and one of those is platinum in the U.S. This band is quite a mystery to me. I have all 4 albums, but I don't think any of them would be considered outstanding. To me, the song is either really good or not all that good at all. You could chunk half of their songs and probably have 2 pretty good albums. And did I mention the vocalist, Tyler Connolly, sounds a lot like Chad Kroeger of Nickelback?
George Lynch - Kill All Control
11. Kill All Control
12. Done
13. Wicked Witch
14. My Own Enemy
15. Go It Alone
George Lynch is a guitarist that is best known for his work in the band Dokken. Of course, you guys know that. He also has his own bands Lynch Mob and Souls Of We. Kill All Control is the most recent of his many solo releases. Quite honestly, this is the first solo material from Lynch that I have ever owned or really even heard. My overall opinion is that it's quite decent. I'm not saying it will make my Top 10 for 2011, but I do like it. Check out the 5 songs and let me know what you think.

This is next on my listening plan! I am intersted in all 3 of these releases, especially the George Lynch, who has been one of my favorite shredders since the mid-80's! Thank you RJHog for this posting, and thanks for having the BEST music sight on the planet! YEAH C'MON!!
3 Doors Down--Thumbs down
They lost me way back when with that awful Superman song, and I'm still lost. kinda liked the first track but the rest was garbage.
Theory Of A Deadman--Thumbs down
Yeah....no. Not for me. The second song was a bit childish, even by my standards (of which there are none). Guess the slide geetar was kinda cool, but no thanks. Maybe "We Were Men" was ok. Maybe I was trying to be a little bit nice since I've never liked Dokken or really care too much about George Lynch and can't be totally negative here, can I?
George Lynch--Thumbs down
Guess I can. Goodness, does this ever suck.
How much money did I save?
I knew you didn't like 3 Doors Down, so that's no surprise.
I totally agree about the childeshness of the second track from TOAD. That's one of my gripes with them. Too many of that type song. Would you believe it's not even the most childesh song on the album?
As far as Lynch, I've never gotten much of a read from anyone here (other than Gordon) on him. Until now of course.
First of all: Thanks, RJhog for posting these 3 albums. I've been considering buying all 3 at some point, and now I know if I was wrong, not doing it:
3 DOORS DOWN - THUMBS lower than EVEN (4/10)
I'm a BIT tired of this kind of music at the moment. "Time of my life" is an okay song, but it's something you've heard SO many times before. After one listen, it's in your head, so you don't have to listen a second time. You almost had me with this kind of american rock-music, RJhog, I mean this year, I've bought Black Stone Cherry and Seether, bands I didn't knew off before, and I nearly bought Sixx A.M., (but somebody said, that I shouldn't). I liked those album for about 14 days, and I'll probably never listen to them again. To me, it's the same kind of music, and it's beginning to bore the hell out of me. It's not BAD, but I'll spend my money on something else.
THEORY OF A DEADMAN - THUMBS almost DOWN (2.5/10)
Hmmmmmm, Nickleback, you say. Yeah, or Black Stone Cherry. I rest my case. The second track might be one of the worst tracks, I've heard so far this year!!! "Drag Me To Hell" has a good start, but then he start's to sing!! Bring on George Lynch!!!
GEORGE LYNCH - THUMBS almost DOWN (3/10)
It's a LITTLE worse than 3DD, but not much. Nice to hear the Lynch guitar-sound. But the songs are not very strong. It's also a weak singer. Who's he trying to be on "Wicked Witch"?? Axl Rose?? Or the Tesla-guy, can't remember his name right now.It DOES sound like a bad Tesla-track from '89. "Go It Alone" has kind of a good Dokken-start, but nah, it's bollocks!!!
I wrote most of this, before I read what Jon had to say about this, but it looks like we agree a lot on this one!!
You Bottom Feeders are a tough crowd to please!
I dont hear too much good stuff on the 3DD...but I do still like their first album, and "that Superman" song.
Theory of A Deadman will not be a purchase for me, although the 3rd track, "Drag Me To Hell", is built around a nice, down-tuned guitar riff. It also has a very good lead guitar section in it. Smokin' lead on this tune.
The Lynch I need to listen to again when I can crank it up more. So far, after 1 listen, it seems ok musically, but I too was disappointed in the vocals. They might sound better when listening again. Not sure why George Lynch keeps shuffling vocalists in and out. Both Oni Logan and Robert Mason sing very well on the "Lynch Mob" releases. I think London LeGrand, who is on this new "solo" album, and on "Souls Of We", is a very average singer. I still may buy this though, depending on how much I like the guitar work (or not).
