Classic Rock Bottom

One highly anticpated release and one that many may not know until they hear the voice...

Alice Cooper

Welcome 2 My Nightmare

Sept 2011

1. I Am Made Of You

2. The Congregation

3. Disco Bloodbath Boogie Fever

4. What Baby Wants

5. I Gotta Get Outta Here

With the long-belated return of Bob Ezrin to oversee the proceedings, "Welcome 2 My Nightmare" is a departure from the mostly-hard-edged sounds that musical chameleon Cooper's been churning out for a little over a decade. Like the original album, there are numerous radio-friendly pop songs as well as musical and lyrical oddities that only Alice could get away with. But does it work as a follow-up to his first solo album? Yes and no. But in my humble opinion, this is his best studio album since 1994's "Last Temptation," an album which was sort of a prequel to the original "Nightmare" and has never been recognized as the masterpiece that it is (thanks to the record company's complete and total mishandling of the release). Doesn't quite match the brilliance of either album, but it tags close behind.

Chronicles

Mar 2011

6. House Of Many Nations

7. Your Shoes

8. Grace Of God

9.  One Heart

10. We Did Nothing Wrong

A full time member of “MIKE & THE MECHANICS” since 1985. Paul was to remain with Mike and the Mechanics with many hits under his built and tour the world until his untimely death in July 2000, following sudden heart failure. A few years after he passed away, unfinished material he had been working on was recovered from his home studio, a total of thirty five songs, some of which have since been carefully recorded and completed by musician friends and collaborators who had known and worked with him.  The album features musicians such as Graham Gouldman and Eric Stewart of 10cc, Victor Emerson and Ian Wilson of Sad Cafe, and of course Paul Carrack and Mike Rutherford of Mike and the Mechanics.

Yes Darryl Hall is the vocalist.
Alice Cooper is my favorite band/performer of all-time. On the other hand, I have never been that crazy about KISS. I like a song here and there but just never my thing. That is the great thing about music, it is all subjective. On the new Alice album, the disco track, though I see what Alice is trying to do, doesn't completely work. However, I disagree on the track with Kesha, I surprisingly love that one and every track on the album.

When I do an NMC, I usually try to post the songs that reflect the style of the whole album and not just the best cuts.  In this case every song could be considered a different style ...  I liked it!

Alice Cooper (Thumbs Up)

I do like it.  I like all the songs you picked except the last one.  It was just okay.  Honestly, if he/they play it right with the Kesha single, Alice Cooper will be on the Pop Charts in 2011.  By the way, I own this already, and I got the 9.99 version just like Scott did from BB.

Paul Young (Thumbs Up)

I like this as well.  It is very easy listening, but that can be a really good thing.  I seriously think he sounds like Daryll Hall of Hall and Oates a good bit here.

I guess, I'm the only one,then.

Alice Cooper-A Strong Thumbs Up. I love Alice!

Paul Young-Even. It really isn't my cup of tea but not bad.

Welcome!  Thanks for the review...  look forward to many more exhanges...
