Disclaimer: I was gonna post Europe and Asia, but the Best Buy did not have the new Asia album.  Needless to say, I'm not real happy about it.  But I still have two bands for you that started in the 80's.

Europe (Bag Of Bones)

I'll start it out with one I'm really digging.  Europe's Bag Of Bones.  I can't say I was much of a Europe fan back when they started, but I definitely have enjoyed their resurgence.  Each of their last 4 albums have been very good.  You get some hard rocking music, well written songs and pretty good vocals with this one.  And the title track is one of my favorites of the year so far.

L.A. Guns (Hollywood Forever)

Another band I did not listen to at all before this album.  I'll tell you why I bought this album.  Last year I bought Rockaholic by Warrant and was totally surprised at how good it was.  I was really hoping for the same results with this one.  But not quite.  Don't get me wrong, I've heard worse.  I actually like the first 3 tracks here a good bit.  I think the opener sounds kind of like W.A.S.P., but  I'm not sure that's a compliment.  Anyway, check it out for yourself.

Yeah, I think I would keep my name if I ever played in a major band....don't piss off your Parents!!

But, Neils, I was just saying that Europe is way more than just "The Final Countdown". Which John Norum solo was it that you didn't like? I have two..."Optimus", which is full of great guitar, and I think Norum sings pretty well, too! The other one I have is from the late 80's, called "Total Control". I think it's pretty good as well, but the production was not very good. Don't think he had a lot of money to spend on studio time for that one.

For RJHog, your stage name could be...Ronnie James Hog???

Or Ronnie James Hoggo!  Of course, if I were releasing a solo album, that's how it would be billed, but a band album would have to be under my band name, Hoggo.

I know a lot of people only know Europe for "The Final Countdown", but I've heard plenty of their music. I just don't like them. Just like I don't like Bon Jovi.
