I thought it said "Electric Light Orchestra". Oh,well

THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA - 5 out of 6

The start to the first track is very similar to the start of "It's Allright" by Paul Stanley. Not a bad track at all.

Second track is not as strong, but okay. "..with Stevie Nicks in my hand" is a good line. There's a good guitarsound on this album. A very good start to track 4. This is a good song, a bit "Beatlesesque" or whatever you call it. Best song so far.....holy shit a great "Randy Rhoads-guitar" in the middle of the song. AWESOME track!! Maybe it's because I'm listening at a pretty high volume (Scott?!).This could be a purchase, if the last  song is as good. Track 5 IS good. I have to check this album out!!

Niels, I have to say that I love your reaction (holy shit).  The reason I love it is that I had the exact same reaction the first time I heard this track and this cd.  The song Transatlantic Blues is my favorite as well, but I like the whole album.  I love the way that song starts out with just the piano, and I love the way the drums and guitars come in.  The vocalist is very unique.  I think his day job is with the band Soil Work, which I know nothing about ( I think it's some type of metal band).  And then the song finishes softly, just like it began.

And I love the Stevie Nicks line too.

I got this because Siberian Queen was on last month's free CD from Classic Rock Magazine.  It blew me away. The CD was pretty expensive, so I actually downloaded this from Amazon.  I have to get the physical CD 'cause  it's a keeper.

I just read a review, that said, that the last 6-7 songs on the album is not as strong as the first half of the
Album? I Can see, that the tracks, you have posted are from the first half of the album?!

I read the same review.  I can't say it's not entirely true, but the album as a whole is quite good to me.

10 YEARS - 3 out of 6

Hmmm, not as good as TNFO, that's for sure. Track two is kind of okay. Not bad. I don't know, it's the style, I'm not that kean on that style of rock. I want to hear TNFO once more, instead of this. A forgettable album, I think. Kind of "Grunge-gy" in the sound, but not quite. It's not bad-bad, but.......nah! Ah, the last track "Sleeper" has another KISS-inspired opening. This time "Plaster Caster".

Night Flight Orchestra--Thumbs between half and 3/4 mostly because of ONE SONG

When I saw the name of this band, I immediately thought of the USA Network back in the 80's and Night Flight which turned into USA UP All Night with

as host. Then I tried to erase my thoughts from that time and gave a listen and this album started of great. Just seemed that the singer was singing too low. And then the second song played and I almost got sick because it sounded exactly like a band that I don't love. Third song was ok, but song #4 was fantastic, as good as the first one. Then the fifth song played and I just didn't care about it much after he started singing. There is good geetaring throughout these tracks, but #2 just should not have been done at all, period.

10 Years--Thumbs at half mast

It didn't start off well with the breathy angst ridden singing, but then it started to rawk and it was kinda ok. The rest rawked as well but I noticed that all songs started to sound the same, and next thing I knew, that first song from the band above was playing again. Was it just one long song from this band?

THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA ... Two thumbs almost fully up

Not sure why this comes to mind but I hear some Ritchie Blackmore influence and some Big Country/Irish sensibility in this.  Blackmore when the riffs are played with keyboards and in the solo as well, and the small rhythmic leads sound Irish to me... Jon?  Vocals are lower toned sounds very much like early Joe Lynn Turner.  None of which is bad, I am liking it a lot!  KISS-ish riffs in the second track, could have came straight off of Crazy Nights, and that's not a really good thing, this the weakest of the 5.  70's back beat in track 3 is kind of cool, didn't expect that.  I do really enjoy the geetar work, very melodic solos (could've done without the keyboard mix in the first solo of the Ruth Ave tune though).   4th track is very nice, loved the progression and riff this song throws out in the middle of it!  More Deep Purple/Rainbow feel in the final track!  Someone tell me I'm not hearing things!  This is a great find!  I need to listen to more...

What? I'm German.

Thought you could help me out with the Big Country thing...

Big Country? I don't recall hearing that. Maybe I'll listen again?

I thought of Christopher Cross and Alan Parsons Project.

Christoper Cross & APP? WTH? WAYTA? AYBS?
