Classic Rock Bottom

Just when you thought Hidden Treasures couldnt get any sappier, along comes Valentines day and guess what?  Yup, Great Valentines gems that will take you and your significant other to places long forgotten and give you the wife/husband points you've been striving to get for so long now.

Pull out the bear skin rug, lay it out in front of the fireplace and let this playlist do its magic!

TITLE: Your The Only Woman
BAND: Ambrosia
ALBUM: One-Eighty
YEAR: 1980
How much more reassuring can you be, this lead off track, while a hit song, doesn't get much airplay anymore, which makes it most effective.

TITLE: Stay The Night
BAND: Benjamin Orr
ALBUM: The Lace
YEAR: 1986
Theres just something about his slower songs and voice that works for occasions like this.

TITLE: I Believe
BAND: Chilliwack
ALBUM: Wanna Be A Star
YEAR: 1981
What a great song!  Personal favorite...

TITLE: Sharing The Night Together
BAND: Dr. Hook
ALBUM: Pleasure & Pain
YEAR: 1978
Your getting to some heavy artillery with this one.

TITLE: Swept Away
BAND: Christopher Cross
ALBUM: The Very Best of
YEAR: 2002
This song was actually recorded and released on his "Back of My Mind" release in '88.  But this is a much improved re-record.  As such its one of those songs that really sets a mood, dont play it up front, put it somewhere down in the middle of the mix where it can be most effective for mood setting.

TITLE: Just Remember I Love You
BAND: Firefall
ALBUM: Luna Sea
YEAR: 1977
This should sound familiar to most of you.  Clearly the lyrics are emotional and could really set a tone.  *wink wink* *nudge nudge*

TITLE: Promise Ain't Enough
BAND: Hall & Oates
ALBUM: Marigold Sky
YEAR: 1997
A bit obsure, but still a great track to consider using.

TITLE: I'd Love You To Want Me
BAND: Lobo
ALBUM: Best Of
YEAR: 197?
Not sure what album this is from or what year it was released.  I know it was the early 70's.  But given what I don't about it, I at least know this, its a great track to share with the spouse.

TITLE: Danny's Song
BAND: Loggins and Messina
ALBUM: Sittin' In
YEAR: 1972
It's a must for any married/committed persons Valentines playlist.

TITLE: Tonights The Night
BAND: Rod Stewart
ALBUM: A Night On The Town
YEAR: 1976
Not really hidden, but a pure gem!  This is the undeniable can't miss track for Valentines Day!

Sorry about that!  Had to clean the sap off my keyboard, what I meant to say was, I hope this weeks list finds you all well and that something here struck a nerve with you and that it becomes something you can share betwen you and yours...

One last piece of advice, steer clear of tracks like "Ball and Chain" from Aldo Nova and "Time For Me To Fly" by REO.  Just sayin'!

Sappy, I mean, HAPPY Valentines Day!

When Rod Stewart performed "Tonight's the night" on stage around 1977, Britt Ekland would appear behind him, and give that french dialogue at the end of the song. She was pretty hot, at that time.
What a nice, sweet, dreamy playlist!
Wife approved!  And thats important... well at least for today anyway!  hahaha
Well, I got the double whammy....it's the woman's birthday AND Valentine's Day. Pity me!
ouch!!!  Double expectations!  You need this weeks SHT list bad!   Go straight for the Rod Stewart track, although you may need to double it up with another one also!

Definitely some sap here, but some great tunes as well.  The opener is fantastic.  My wife and I heard and Ambrosia song on the radio this weekend.  She mentioned how much she liked it (I can't remember which song it was), and my response was that Scott really likes Ambrosia.  She said she thought this was their only hit and I told her I would really try to pick some up soon because she'd be surprised at how many of their songs she has heard.

I also like the Benjamin Orr track.  It's a shame he's not around for The Cars reunion album coming up.

I pretty much enjoyed everything except the Christopher Cross track.  That one's a little overboard for me.

Nice playlist Scott, I'm sure you did the little lady proud.

Thanks!  I actually was thinking about Mike Pells stuff because I had the same LOVE in the title type of thoughts, but I would never come close to his playlists and commentary.  So I turned my attention to the sappier side intentionally.  I was wondering how it would play on here ...  But I think either you all are being nice to me or it went a little better than I thought it would because I love all of these tracks but know how heavy the others prefer theirs.

Next week I'll have something really nice cooked up ...

Some Trash Metal, perhaps??
hahahahaha...  Fortunately or Unfortunately, I don't own any Trash or Thrash metal.
Yet I do! I am the anti-Scott!
