I'm going with both as SMASH!  I liked the Edens Curse, singer had a little Kevin Dubrow sound to his voice which isn't the most appealing voice, but it worked on that track.

Eden's Curse--slight SMASH

The beginning sounds like something I've heard before that I can't quite put my finger on (Ozzy maybe?), and, thanks to Scott, I heard the Kevin Dubrow-ishness whcih really ain't a good thing. I'll lean more towards SMASH though since the band smokes.

 

Gerry Rafferty--SMASH

Nice mellow song from a very good album. I just wanted to sit back and light up which, of course, I didn't.

I'm going with smash on both as well.  The Eden's Curse CD is really good.  It's current melodic rock.  I just discovered the Gerry Rafferty myself.  I knew the two big hits of of City To City, but that's it.
