Classic Rock Bottom

Ok, we all love music so much, that I'm sure everyone of us have bought CD's before without having a clue what it sounded like. You just "took a chance", hoping you would like it. Sometimes, it might be an artist you've liked before, but have never heard anything from the release you take a chance on.

Or, sometimes, it may just be a band name that catches your eye...like, "what a cool band name...they GOTTA rock...I'm buying it, and taking a chance..."

Or, maybe, you just like the cover art enough, so you take a chance.

So anyway, list something you took a chance on, and you are real glad you did. For me, I remember taking a chance on "Carnival Of Souls" by Kiss, an artist I liked since the mid 70's, but took a chance on this release, and love it. Another awesome one would be "Back To Reality", by Slaughter. Both of these discs would be at the top of my "under-rated" list.

Two others I can think of right now, where I took a chance, and never had even heard any kind of sound bites, are "Chemical Wedding" by Bruce Dickinson, and "The Lizard" by Saigon Kick. Both very good listens.

I also took a chance on both Black Country Communion records, but with their line-up, you just knew it was gonna be good stuff. As we say in the south...C'MON BACK YA'LL!! WHADDAYA GOT??

Off the top of my head, I would say the latest Warrant release, Rockaholic. Other than a greatest hits disc that I bought for the song Uncle Tom's Cabin, it is the only Warrant album I own.

Also, Pull by Winger. I bought it before I bought their previous releases.

D.R.F.S.R. by Warrant is also really good. Cherry Pie, I have it, but if you are not really into Warrant a hits will be good enough!

Pull, Down Incognito and Who's The One. Both were great songs that I miss from the radio. :(

Someday I need to Ipod ready my car. :( I had plans to, but I never did and now what I need for my CD player is no longer available. So I guess I need a new car unit one day. Tax Money maybe?

I liked those Bruce Dickinson releases back when they first came out. Accident Of Birth is better than Chemical Wedding though - I PROMISE!

Yes, that Kiss reunion is actually a really fun release, with good clean songs. I pledge to the state of Rock and Roll!

I have not lsitened to that Slaughter release in a long time. Some day I'll listen to all my CDs again while! slowly getting to it. :)

The Lizzard, Love Is On The Way is a good song, but I never really liked the rest of the release.

I took a chance on ARC Angels today. I've never heard of this band, but whatever as NEW CDs are getting cheaper. I think this is in part due to a bad economy and also Itunes. Real CDs need to be cheaper than the download, or people won't buy.

I have not played the full CD yet, listening to Jeff Beck - Best Of Beck now (LIKE IT LOTS!!!!) - But from these two videos ARC Angels seem REALLY cool! Plus, the first of the band has the initials for my real name! :)

The Arc Angels album is awesome, an absolutely buried treasure. Guess that's what happens when you only put out one album, but there's been rumors going around that they're back toghether....

There's a new live album on the bands website and on Itunes. Some new, some old songs. It might be worth sampling, but I'm not sure if I want to download it yet! :)

You can listen to the entire ARC ANGELS NEW LIVE CD at the above link! :) ARC ANGELS Living In A Dream.

I purchased the debut new fo $7! :)

I have the Arc Angels S/T disc as well.  I purchased it a couple of years ago.  Back when some of us posted on Classic Rock Revisited, Jon had a few songs on his music player.  I just listened today, and while I don't think it's necessarily a classic, it's very decent.  I do like the guitar playing throughout the album.

It's a classic. Live and deal with it.

If "Accident Of Birth" is even better than "Chemical Wedding", I will take a chance on it, and buy it. Thanks for the suggestion, Van. I'll also check out this Arc Angels.

Gordon, I know you are a "guitar man".  I think you'll like and appreciate the playing on the Arc Angels disc if you get a chance to hear it, but it may not be heavy enough for you, bases of course on previous comments somewhere along the line.

Accident of Birth has Adrian Smith on it. And yes, it is 100 times better. The songs are more memorable and melodic (if Maiden and Dickinson can be melodic). It came out in '97, when I was just getting done with High School. I think I shall listen to some Bruce! Bruce! tonight! THANKS! :)

Thanks for posting these videos, Van. "Accident Of Birth" is an awesome tune. I'm going to get this disc, based on your views of it. But 100 times better than "Chemical Wedding"?? That is hard to imagine, for me at least, since I like it so damn much. Has got some kick ass tunes as well.

Now I'm on to check out the Arc Angels stuff, and thanks for posting that. I need to get about 4 more jobs to afford my music habit!
