There ain't that many good "New Years"-video's and songs out there, so to say, that this is a special edition of VOTW, is wrong. And then again, there IS one New Years-video, and no, it's NOT U2. There's also 4 new video's and 2 classic, and one of them should be a little cheesy, or is it? Here we go:
1. GEORGE HARRISON - DING DONG, DING DONG
And here it is: The only video/song in VOTW, that has anything to do with "New Year". This is from 1974, and I can't say, that I remember it from back then, but I have heard it many times before.
2. VOYAGER - LOST
I don't know much about this band. RJhog found this on YouTube and send it to me. It's a song from their latest album "I am the Revolution" from 2009. It's a rather old band, because the first album was released in 1979, but that's all I know. Maybe RJ knows more?
3. CROWBAR - THE CEMETARY ANGELS
This is a Metal band from New Orleans, and this is from their not yet released new album, and that's about it.
4. ALICE IN CHAINS - LAST OF MY KIND
Lastest video from the 2009-album "Black gives way to blue".
5. STONE SOUR - HESITATE
And the last one, of the new ones. I know, I've posted video's from Stone Sour before, but here is the newest one, from their album "Audio Secrecy" from 2010.
6. THE KINKS - DON'T FORGET TO DANCE
Even though Kinks was best in the 60's and the very beginning of the 70's, this is one of my absolute favorites of theirs.
7. LIZZY BORDEN - WE GOT THE POWER
From the album "Master Of Disguise" from 1989, maybe the greatest year for cheesy video's?!!

George Harrison (0.5 points)
The song isn't particularly good or bad just repetitive as hell. The video was so bad that I'm giving it 0.5 points. Yes, that's right, it was bad, but it entertained me quite well. You know, some bad stuff is good, kinda...
Voyager (1.5 points)
I dig the song a lot. I don't know anymore about the band than what Niels told you. I was actually reading about the band Dommin on Amazon and one of the reviewers mentioned this, so I looked it up. I didn't watch it or listen to it at the time, so this is the first time I've heard the whole thing. Anyway, the video's not bad either. I'll say 1 point for the song and 0.5 points for the video.
Crowbar (N/A)
Video is no longer available.
Alice In Chains (1.5 points)
I like AIC, even this version, but I don't think this is the album version. It sounds different, probably a somewhat live version. The song get's a full point and the video get's 0.5 points...it would have been a little lower but they through in the nod to Van Halen at the end which instantly boosted the overall score.
Stonesour (1 point)
That's a pretty good song. The vocalist has a pretty good voice when he just sings normally. The video was kind of cool as well. The frozen people were neat.
The Kinks (1.5 points)
This seems to be a common score for me this week. I do like that song. I don't remember if I've heard it on one of Mike Pell's shows or not, but it's a very nice, easy listening song. The video is okay, not great but not bad. I'll say 1 point for the song, a half point for the video.
Lizzy Borden (1.25 points / Cheese Factor 3)
I figured I would not like this at all, but the song is actually pretty good. I'll give it 0.75 points, and I really liked the "shout it out loud" lyric. The video didn't seem all that cheesy to me. That's a surprise, as so many of the late 80's videos are terribly cheesy. The biggest cheese moment was when the singer slid open the door an his hair blew back, but I guess the oversinging of the backing vocals by the guitar players was pretty cheesy too.
Niels, sorry it took me so long to get to this, my home has been chaotic throughout this holiday season, but you made some fine picks as usual.
