Classic Rock Bottom

I'm having some computer-problems at the moment, so I'm not that much on CRB, as I would like to be, but of course, there's time for VOTW. There will be 5 rather new video's and 2 classics this time. If some of you "new guys" want to rate them, the rating-system is like this: You can rate both song and video seperately, and give from -1 to +1, and therefore you can also give 0 or 0.5 or whatever in between, and if you don't want to rate them, that's fine with me. Oh, and usually there's some kind of cheesefactor on the last video, and that scale goes from 1-10, where 10 is as much cheesefactor, as it can get. Here we go:

1. A DAY TO REMEMBER - ALL I WANT

The american band, A Day To Remember, founded in 2003, has released 4 studio-albums. This is from their latest, What Seperates Me From You, released in november 2010, and this video is in fact so new, that it is from........2011!!!!!!! DAH-DAH!!!!!

2. SHINEDOWN - DIAMOND EYES

Shinedown's song, written for the movie The Expendables, as you can see by watching the video.

3. FALL OUT BOY - THIS AIN'T A SCENE, IT'S AN ARMS RACE

The american band, Fall Out Boy, with a song/video from their 2007-album, Infinity On High. The song reached the #1 on the Pop 100 and #2 on the Billboard Hot 100, so you MIGHT have heard it/seen it?!

4. REV THEORY - JUSTICE

The american hard rock-band from New York, formed in 2002, with the title-song from their coming album, yep, you've guessed it, Justice.

5. 30 SECONDS TO MARS - HURRICANE

Okay, this video is more than 13 minutes long, and I don't really know, if you think it's worth, to spend 13 minutes of your life watching it, but I'm giving you the opportunity, so take it or leave it. Here's something from Wikipedia: The latest video from the band's hit "Hurricane" was banned by MTV and several other TV channels. The video was premiered on MTV at 29 November 2010 with 13:10 length and directed by Jared Leto under the pseudonym Bartholomew Cubbin.

The video was banned due to heavy censorship. The elements of violence, nudity and sex were explicitly exposed here. On November 28, 2010, Jared Leto's blog posted the letter from MTV about the censorship and the letter even had the list of censored scenes like woman runs her finger on anus of G-string woman which classified as strictly restricted. This shot only had made the video as completely restricted.

So now you know: No little kiddies around, when you're watching this!!

6. PAUL MCCARTNEY - PIPES OF PEACE

I'm reading a book about McCartney at the moment, and that made me want to post this video. A song/video, that I've allways loved.

7. LYNCH MOB - WICKED SENSATION

Dokken's "old" guitarist with his own band, with a song/video from 1990. Any cheesefactor?

Was wondering where you've been, just figured you were busy, but I hope you get your computer issues fixed soon!
Thank you, Scott. It's nice to see, that I'm missed.

A Day To Remember--(0 stars)
Song sucks, but the video is right up Scott's alley. Not in a warehouse, but in a room and that's right up his alley. Maybe I'm getting old but were those cameos from folks in other bands? The only one I think I recognized was Andrew W.K., but if they were cameos, what's the purpose? Not like the songs an anthem or for some cause or even going to be a hit. I'm lost.

Shinedown--(1 star)
Song ain't half bad...I just can't remember hearing it in the movie, and we just watched it a week ago. Simple video, too bad they didn't show the hacking off of one of the bad guy's hands. That would have moved this video up in my rankings.

Fall Out Boy---(-2 stars)
Dear lead sing guy: You are not Joe Cocker, lay off the facial grimaces and moronic hand gestures.

Dear bass player: Lay off the mascara. Really.

Dear rest of the band: Whatever dudes.

Dear Seth Green: You rock!

Dear Animal House: Was that Niedermeyer?

Dear video: Was that supposed to be funny?

Dear song: You suck.

Rev Theory--(1 star)

Song was pretty good, video was typical low budget stuff you see these days. So far this is my favorite song from this post.

30 Seconds To Mars--(1 Star)

I saw Donnie Darko, Memento and Beetlejuice references, but really don't understand the point of the video? Some cool stuff though...the sledgehammer to the face was cool, the sound of hi body hitting the pavement was juicy. Obvious effort was made, but still am lost on the point of the whole thing. Song wasn't too bad either.

Paul McCartney--(1 Star)

Always liked this song, the video would have been better if a)they weren't playing soccer with a severed head and b)those damn Americans didn't fly over and drop bombs when the Germans and British were having a grand old time. Such a shame really.

Lynch Mob--(1 star, cheese factor 2)

Have liked this song, better than a majority of Dokken's stuff. Video didn't have a lot of cheese. But,you did get the wind-blown hair on only George (guess he was the only one in front of the fan) and what in the the hell was the bass player wearing? That's the majority of the cheese, that...thing he was wearing. And what was the singer holding? Not really cheese, but odd.

A DAY TO REMEMBER ... (-1 points)
WOW!  An empty room with tons of paper on the wall!  Gosh thats different!  Our favorite video producer has finally thought out of the box!  Why is everyone so pissed off when they lip sync their part of the video?  I dont know ... kinda stopped listening around 2 minutes.  And then the paper started to fall off the wall... now when I was young I knew how to hang posters on my wall that didnt fall off!  Young kids nowdays!!!  Oh wait...  got lost on the reason Im typing this up...  song = sucked and video = sucked worse...  -1 points

SHINEDOWN ... (1 point)
Havent seen the movie.  Kinda like the classic rock feel to the song, can hear cool riff's and that always a good thing!  I like the bands stage presence, they are not over or under stated.  However, the stage setup looks like it would work better on the set of a show like Solid Gold versus live and in person.  Why that thought came to mind I dont know, but I'm here to provide feedback and thats what I got...  Videos that are associated to a movie always feel like a trailer, so I dont care for that, but I understand the business side a bit, so it is what it is.  1 point for the song, and no point for the movie trailer...

FALL OUT BOY ... (-.5 points)
Isnt one of these guys married to Ashlee Simpson?  I get that Joe Cocker knock off vibe too.  Dont like that!!  Be unique for Pete's sake (pun intended)!  Why is everything a rip off nowdays.  An now they insult my intelligence by making this about a big schlong?  I dont like this.  Kinda think they should have broke out in a Chicken Dance and walked off the video a few seconds after it started.  That woudl've been much better...  -.25 for uninspired song, and .-25 for insulting my intelligence with this video.

REV THEORY ... (0 point)
The more the singer sings the more I hear Charlie Browns teacher...  wah wah wah wah wah wah...  Thought the song had a promising start, but its just dragging on now... So he wants Justice?  Better go look somewhere else, this is just 100% the same old same old.  0 points...

30 SECONDS TO MARS ... (1.5 points)
I own this CD, and I like this band so the song gets an instant point.  Now onto the epic, I mean video...  This is what a Hollywood connection will get you, a very cool, well written, produced and acted video.

PAUL MCCARTNEY ... (1 points)
I like this too, a little poppy, but most of his solo stuff is.  I think he used the same producer on all his videos at this time of career, they all have a similar feel...

LYNCH MOB ... (1 point with a cheese factor of 2)
Love his playing and its easy to see where Dokken got all those cool riffs from.  Maybe Lynch shouldve separated himself from Dokken further by picking a singer that didnt sound so similar.  Not alot of cheese here either, like the song like the vid!!!  1 point

AWESOME POST!  And glad to have you back!

A Day To Remember (1 point)

This song isn't bad at all.  I'm not sure what the genre would be, maybe emo/alt. rock?  But it's not bad.  I actually like the video.  It's different.  I'm not crazy about all the jumping around and hand gestures, but I like that they used different people to lip sync all of the words, not just the vocalist.  Kinda cool.

Shinedown (1.5 points)

As usual, an outstanding song.  Shinedown have gotten pretty big, and I just hope they don't become Nickelback II.  The video gets the half point.  I like the concert footage, and kinda like the movie scenes.  I gotta rent this movie.  I'm sure it will be on HBO eventually.

Fall Out Boy (0.75 points)

Why do I get the feeling that only boys that wear skinny jeans should be listening to this band?  Well, the song isn't awful, so I'll give it 0.25 points.  The other 0.5 points are for the video, which I liked the first third of, it was quite comical, and I liked the middle third of, because of some hot chicks, but the last third bored me.

Rev Theory (0 points)

I'll take a line from Scott, this band isn't bad, but there is nothing there to separate them from the crowd, in my opinion of course.

30 Seconds To Mars (Will have to watch at home)

Paul McCartney (0.75 points)

I'm not crazy about the song, but I do like the songs message.  I'll give it 0.25 points, plus the fact that it's a legend like McCartney.  As far as the video goes, 0.5 points.  I like it.  Seeing something like this always makes me think what it must have been like to live back then, in those trenches, in the freezing cold and rain.  It couldn't have been easy.

Lynch Mob (2 points/ Cheese Factor Negligible)

I've never listened to any of Lynch's solo or Lynch Mob stuff.  I like this a good bit.  The song is much better than I would have thought.  The video is pretty good too.  Nothing to fancy, with a terrific hot chick.  The wind blowing Lynch's hair is about as cheesy as it gets, so thats why I'm saying negligible.  Not enough to register as cheese.

My favorite of all of these would be Lynch Mob...

30 Seconds To Mars (2 points)

That song is pretty damn good.  I have their previous album and it's decent from what I can remember, maybe I'll check this out.  The video is very long, and I'm really surprised that it held my attention for that long.  Must have been the chicks.  I don't really follow the story, but who cares?
