Classic Rock Bottom

Niels and myself are throwing you a change-up this week, as I'm hosting this feature and he will be hosting AOTW (watch for a mid week and a regular AOTW from Niels).  I'll stay true to Niels' format and give you 5 new videos and 2 classics.  As always, feel free to give a Cheese Factor rating on the classics.  This week I have Rival Sons, Hinder, Avenged Sevenfold, Vicious Rumors, Cold, Pat Benatar and The Rolling Stones for you.  Enjoy!

Rival Sons - Pressure And Time

Californian blues-rockers RIVAL SONS have premiered their brand new music video, for their new single, 'Pressure And Time'.

Drummer Michael Miley comments on the video: "I'm so fired up for the release of the 'Pressure And Time' video, which is the first single off our new album. We filmed this baby in about two days at about 23 different locations. Though it was fun as hell, loading and unloading 23 times was worse than moving into my apartment!! We had a blast and ate authentic vegan Mexican food and drank homemade vodka about a mile from the Mexican border. It was epic!!"

Hinder - What Ya Gonna Do

Hinder is an American rock band from Oklahoma that was formed in 2001 by drummer Cody Hanson, guitarist Joe Garvey, and singer Austin Winkler. The band was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2007.  What Ya Gonna Do is off of their latest album.

Avenged Sevenfold - So Far Away

"So Far Away" is a song by the American heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold, released as the third single for their fifth studio album, Nightmare. It is the band's third single released without former drummer "The Rev", who died on December 28, 2009. In late March All Access Music Group mentioned that the third single from the album Nightmare would be "So Far Away", scheduled to be played on the radio starting on April 5, 2011.[1] In Avenged Sevenfold's "making of" series on YouTube, In the Studio, singer M. Shadows and bassist Johnny Christ say that the song was written by Synyster Gates as tribute to his best friend Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan.

This was Gates' first time writing an Avenged Sevenfold song completely. During most concerts the band performs the song as a tribute to the Rev by having the audience hold up their lighters or cell phones during the song as the stage background features a banner commemorating the Rev's legacy.

Vicious Rumors - Murderball

Vicious Rumors is an American power metal band founded in 1979 in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.

The brainchild of Geoff Thorpe, the band has been active on the metal scene since its inception in 1979. Vicious Rumors is recognized for their guitar works and harmonies, as well as the variety of their tracks.  Murderball is from their latest album.

Cold - Wicked World

Cold is an American post-grunge band, formed in 1996 in Jacksonville, Florida. With two gold-albums Cold has sold over one million records. On November 17, 2006, Ward announced on MySpace that, after a period of uncertainty since that February, the group had decided to disband. In July 2008, it was announced that the original line-up would reunite for a tour in early 2009. A new studio album is due for release in June 2011.

HINDER ... 1.5 points
Not too bad.  Would make a nice addition to a playlist in the acoutics group somewhere.  Its not special, but its always nice to hear a recent band weave classics and southern elements into a modern tune.  I'll give them a 1 and half points

Pat Benatar ... 2 points
Anyone remember when all the girls dressed like her?  Love Pat Benatar!  Even like this tune, and yes that dance sequence is still a little awkward looks more like a Zumba class at the gym.

Rolling Stones ... 0 points
Can someone please tell me what the hell Mick is doing in this video?  He's hard to watch and Im not really a Stones kinda guy.  yuck for me...

RIVAL SONS ... 1.5 points

hmmm...  Interesting.  Lots of cool things to like about this.  Starting with the rhythm secion of this band, that bass line and beat were infectious!  Liked hearing the vocalist, not sure I liked seeing the vocalist though.  haha...  Geetar was average.  Video was cool too though!  1.5 points.  Does anyone have anything more from these guys to post?

AVENGED SEVENFOLD ... 0 points

One word:  Boring.  I started watching and listening and got distracted and totally forgot it was still playing, that relegates it to the background noise category.

VICIOUS RUMORS ... 0 points

I have a word for the singer:  Rogaine.

COLD ... 0 points

Maybe this singer should call the Vicious Rumors singer and discuss Hair options...  In all seriousness, I got nothing for this one either.  I find this formula to New Metal to be played out.

Rival Sons--2 points

Even though Rjhog picked this, I'll still give it 2 point cause I like it. Video was ok for a performance video, the change of scenery was nice. Nice, funky tune.

Hinder--0 points

Because Rjhog picked this, I'm giving it zero stars. Neils hit this on the head...a bad 80's song. And a bit countryish. Also, if you're going to vomit, DO IT. Don't give me that fake wretching crap. Let it go. Is that Steve Miller on geetar? In the Oklahoma Music Hall Of Fame? Were they that hard up?

Avenged Sevenfold--0 points

Because Rjhog picked this, I'm giving it zero stars. Song is just boring. Guess if you're a fan of the band the somg might have a bigger impact. Nice video except for the performance stuff. Is that k.d. Lang on geetar?

Vicious Rumors--1 point

Even though Rjhog picked this, I'll still give it 1 point cause I like it. Didn't have a problem with the video or the singer, song was decent. Nothing spectacular, but solid stuff.

Cold--1 point to the negative

Might be the worst video ever posted here, probably because it came from Rjhog. They should remain broken up, don't know who or what asked them to get back together. The Evil Where The Wild Things Are stuff was ok and I'll begrudgingly give it one point for that.

Pat Benatar--2 points, cheeziness 10

Even though Rjhog picked this, I'll still give it 2 point because it's classic cheese. The cheese is due to two things: the clothes and THE DANCE. Yep, I do know how to do it. I practiced every day until I dropped from exhaustion but I can still do the whole routine to this day. BOW DOWN TO ME!

Rolling Stones--1 point, cheeziness....off the friggin' charts

Song's ok, video is just borderline criminal for it's cheezosity. Don't know where to begin and don't really wanna.

This was probably the least enjoyable set of videos I have ever watched. Even worse than watching an hour of "120 Minutes" back in the day. Please Niels....come back!

Thanks for wasting my valuable time Rjhog.

You are very welcome.

Did nobody notice the drummer?  When was Martin Short in the Stones?
