WITHIN TEMPTATION - SINEAD


Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation has posted the music video for the song “Sinéad”, which is the second single of the band’s new album, “The Unforgiving,” which was released in March. I've got a feeling, that Jon might like this one??The band will be on tour in Europe and North America later this year.




LORD - SET IN STONE


“Set In Stone”, the new video from Australian melodic metallers LORD, is available. The clip was directed and filmed by Dusk Music Video Production and includes additional SFX footage from the movie “Alien Armageddon” directed by Neil Johnson.




HELL - ON EARTH AS IN HELL


An old band from NWOBHM, but I do believe, that this is their debut (or at least second) album. The original vocalist died in '87, I think. This is from the new album "Human Remains". Evil looking dudes!!!

GIRLSCHOOL - PLAY DIRTY

I bought this album back in.....'84, I think. They stole pretty much from Def Leppard on this album, but in a way, this song reminds me of "Armageddon it", and that's from '87 ?! Hmmm, maybe it's just me.



JETHRO TULL - SWEET DREAM

I've have'nt seen this video until now. I think it's from a video, they made in '81. The song "Sweet Dream" is from (as far as I remember) "Heavy Horses" from '78, but this is the live version from "Bursting Out" from '79. Well, just look at it.

Within Temptation--2 points

Absolutely love this song and the video is part of a story, makes more sense if you see the whole thing. What I liked was the burst of violence, totally unexpected. I guess I like violent cinema?

Saxon (1 Point)

One point for the song.  It's pretty good.  I really like the guitar work.  The video is nothing special.

 

Within Temptation (1 point)

Again, strictly for the song, which, despite the sound of rave music, it's pretty good.  But I just don't get the video.  I'll take Jon at his word that it's part of a story.

 

Lord (1 Point)

Okay, I'm sounding like a broken record.  One point for the song.  Yay, a freakin' guitar song.  Nice work there.  The vocals are pretty decent too.  If that footage is from a movie, that's a sucky movie.

 

Hell (- 2 points)

Too much sacrilege for me.  Evil may not be the best way to describe the way they look.  Is that a crown of thorns on his head.  Terrible vocals.  This sux.

 

Mr. Big (0 points)

This is one of my least favorite songs on this album, although it has some cool attributes, like the bass.  And the verses are decent, but the chorus bugs the crap out of me.  So do the "Mike Reno with a speech impediment" vocals.

 

Girlschool (0 points)

Not my cup o' tea.  But you are right Niels, that riff is reminiscent of DL.  Speaking of DL, the person that gets knocked down in the ring looks like Steve Clark.

 

Jethro Tull (1 point)

This time for the video.  The song is just okay, not one of JT's best.  But the video is strange.  You usually just see concert footage for live songs, but this one looks like scenes from an old scary movie.  So I'll give 'em credit for that.

These guys must be an acquired taste or something, because this is the second week in a row with a Saxon video and I dont like either one.  The singer stinks, and I'm being kind.  I give them one half of a point for the opening riff and the geetar break, thats was pretty cool.  The video was just kind of there...

 

WITHIN TEMPTATION ... 2 points
Is there a differnce between Symphonic Metal and the same from Dutch artists?  If there is I cant tell a difference, not to be silly, but was truly curious.  The song is actually quite catchy.  Niels will be surprised, buyt I like this one too, maybe not as much as Jon will, but not bad!!  Love the singer, she's got a cool voice.  I dint wuite get why the drummer has a sock over his whole head, but thats his deal, so oh well...  I'll go 2 points on this, I enjoyed both the song and the video.

 

LORD ... .5 points
In the not too distance past ...  I listened ... And there was no band left unscathed!  These two words come to mind right away - "Oh Lord!" - and then I got another word, "Yuck".  .5 points for a pretty cool video though.

Yup, blatant Def Leppard rip off.  And whoever produced this video should never work in this business again.  Putting men who wear womens makeup in a gym and then expecting them to act manly was an epic fail!

Interesting, the phenomena persists!  I like the start, lock in on the tune and then ...   zzzzzzzzzz  ....  I kid!  In all honesty its not that great of a tune, but the video is pretty cool for the time period it was recorded.

Like this, like what they've been doing for the last 15 years or so, no sign of wimping out or getting lighter even though they're something like 90 years old. Interesting spot to film a video, I'd be freaking out, too damn high for me.

Like this too. And when's "Alien Armageddon" coming to blu-ray? Look kinds interesting because there's aliens and armageddon, thankfully without Ben Affleck. I must be feeling generous today....

I never knew Harry Dean Stanton was a metal singer! Wow! I thought the tune was pretty good, the video, well...doesn't offend me but can see why it would to some.

It just seems it's just a waste of talent to come out with a song like this. Sounds like a ploy to sell a bunch of singles...well, in Japan at least. Huey Lewis on drums?

Bought this album when it came out and still like this song. It's a departure from their earlier stuff (think, "We gots to sell some records!!!") but I still find it enjoyable. It's better than Vixen. Video is just plain silly.
