Classic Rock Bottom

This time video's by QUEENSRŸCHE, CHICAGO, TED NUGENT, THEORY OF A DEAD MAN, IN FLAMES, INCUBUS, ELECTRIC BOYS and perhaps BAAL (maybe you can't see/hear it in the US?):

THEORY OF A DEAD MAN - LOWLIFE

Theory of a Deadman is a Canadian rock band from Delta, British Columbia, formed in 2001. The band is currently signed to Roadrunner Records as well as Island Records. The band also includes traits of other music styles, such as country and acoustic, as well as their post-grunge and alternative rock base. So far, they have a total of 5 top 10 hits on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, including one #1 hit, "Bad Girlfriend". This is from the new album "The Truth Is..."

ELECTRIC BOYS - ANGELS IN AN AMOURED SUIT

The Electric Boys are a funk metal band founded in Sweden in 1988, which enjoyed a cult status in Europe at the end of the decade. This is from the new album "And Them Boys Done Swang".

INCUBUS - ADOLESCENTS

"Adolescents" is the first single from Incubus' seventh album, If Not Now, When?. It was posted on the band's website on April 4, 2011 (a physical release was released 15 days later, April 19). This is their first single in two years following the release of the Prince and The Revolution cover "Let's Go Crazy" (from the 2009 compilation Monuments and Melodies). It has since peaked at #3 on both the Billboard Alternative Songs chart, and on the Billboard Rock Songs chart.

IN FLAMES - DELIVER US

Another band from Sweeden, In Flames a melodic death metal band from Gothenburg, formed in 1990. Since the band's inception in 1993, they have released ten studio albums and one live DVD. As of 2008, In Flames has sold over 2.5 million records worldwide. From their new album " Sounds Of A Playground Falling".

QUEENSRŸCHE - WOT WE DO

Vocalist Geoff Tate of Seattle progressive rockers QUEENSRŸCHE has made his own video for the band’s new song “Wot We Do” featuring footage from the group’s 2010 Queensrÿche Cabaret tour.

CHICAGO - HARD HABIT TO BREAK

Probably my favorite Chicago-song. And that's what I have to say about this one.

TED NUGENT - LITTLE MISS DANGEROUS

From AllMusic.com:"There's no easy way to say this but here goes: Little Miss Dangerous may be the worst Ted Nugent record ever released. Everything about this album is a huge disappointment. Who knows what the Nuge was thinking when he decided that an album full of artificially triggered sounds would be the way to go. Not only are songs like "Body Talk and "Angry Young Man" horrific, the überclichéd mid-'80s production erases any desire to ever relisten to this effort all the way through. It's a shame that this record didn't end up on a bad late-night mid-'80s cable show soundtrack -- it would have been a perfect fit. Not even composer Bill Conti can save the day on this one. This album is not just a sonic embarrassment in every way shape and form, it's a fiasco all around. Avoid at all costs."

Oh yeah? Well, I thought this album was pretty good in the spring of '86.

BAAL - CHRONICAL LOVESONG

Usually, you can't see the danish video's in the big o'l US of A, but I'll give it another try:I saw the singer on T.V. yesterday, and thought of this song, I really liked when it was released in '96. They were very inspired by Bertolt Brecht, David Bowie and Queen, as you (perhaps) can both see and hear.

Electric Boys--2 points

Always have like these guys, want this album by these guys but...way too much money. Good song, not really that funky, but a good rock song.

Theory Of A Dead Man (2 Points)

Probably in the minority here, but I like this band.  As far as I'm concerned, their biggest drawback is that they sound too much like Nickelback.  But I'll give 'em a break, 'cause I like their songs.  Isn't the guy in the video an actor?  He looks really familiar.

Electric Boys (3 Points)

Holy Crap!  Niels, that is hands down the best "new" song you've ever featured in VOTW.  That song is wicked.  Great riffing, awesome bass and a nice little solo at the end.  Jon says it's expensive, but I'll be looking this one up.  And I like the video too.  The band has a slight retro look and it's a good performance video without being over the top.

Incubus (1 Point)

I like most of the song, except the little breakdown towards the end.  I used to like this band, but their last couple of releases didn't work for me.  I probably won't buy this one unless I hear something else I like.  The video was okay except for the slow motion part, that really sucked.

In Flames (2 Points)

I'm not a fan of melodic death metal, or any other kind of death metal for that matter.  But then again, maybe I am,

'cause I really like this song too.  It's not cookie monster vocals, so that makes it much better.  And I love that the drummer doesn't overplay.  And Scott can't bitch about the video because they aren't in an abandoned warehouse, they are on a freakin' ferris wheel.  Totally cool.  Great song.  I'll be looking up this CD and I think it was released today.

Queensryche (1 Point)

I'll give a point for the video.  It's not that I think it's all that good, but it's interesting enough to keep me watching.  The song is weird.  It's a pretty decent song, with a good beat, but not very Queensryche"ish".  Which makes me worry about the album.

Cool, RJhog!! I must say, that I agree very much with you, except I would probably "only" give Electric Boys 2 points   I also think, that the Queensrÿche-song is very weak, and you're not alone regarding Theory of a dead man. Yeah, he's actor, but I can't right now remember a movie, he "stars" in.

Hmmm...if I remember, you guys didn't like the Electric Boys when I featured them a long, long time ago. Hmmm....

And the price is around 20 bucks, not willing to do that yet. I'm sure a marketplace seller will have it at a reasonable price soon. Not that I have other stuff to listen to.

THEORY OF A DEADMAN ... 0 points
Nickelback wanna-be's?  Sounds like it.  The song is middle of the road for me, good not great, not terrible.  I dont agree with the use of the language, to me that reeks of pandering for a young radical audience and trys to compensate for problems with the song.  The video has some quality parts, the ice cream bit and the bowling ball pawn was funny, but here again it falls short of being entertaining versus just ridiculous.  0 points

ELECTRIC BOYS ... 1 point
Interesting ...  Some of the bass line on this tune reminds me of Stone Temple Pilots production on Tiny Music, specifically Big Bang Baby.  I kinda like the music here, alot actually.  The singer may be the liability but he's not overly bad.  Would like to hear more. .5 points for each song and video.

INCUBUS ... 0 points
This song just drifted..  you know?  It started nicely and then I got lost for a minute and then it never grabbed me back.  It was just there.

QUEENSRYCHE ... 1 point for the video only
I dont like the song at all.  It actually sucks, but hey I'm a guy and so I just had to watch the video ... three times   :-)

Theroy Of A Deadman--1 point

The song was decent, the video was fun. That's Donal Logue as the lowlife, he's been in a bunch of stuff like Blade, The Patriot, Ghost Rider...

Incubus--0 points

Like Scott, I drifted. Started staring at the wall and other thoughts entered my mind. Nothing to do with this song. As a matter of fact, I think it's still playing as I type this and I haven't really noticed if it really is.

In Flames--1.5 points

Like this band, good song but a bit short. Video was ok. Surprised someone here bought this album considering  a Sesame Street character will show up every now and then.

I can live with every now and then.

Chicago (1 Point)

There's not much to say about the video.  But the song is great.  Yeah, I know it's a pop love song, but I've always liked it.  The dual vocals are terrific.  I love the difference in their voices, but how well they go together.

Ted Nugent (0 Points)

You know, I'm not a huge Nugent fan, but I do like some of his work.  This, however, ain't it.  And the little girls in the video just bother me.

Baal (-1 Point)

Pardon me, but WTF?  I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry over the 4 minutes I just wasted.

Niels, loved your selections this week.  They can't all be good.

I'll be getting to these tomorrow, but it looks like things took a downturn!
WTF? What do you mean WTF? (I KNOW what it STANDS for, so stop right there!!) Is it really THAT bad. I think it's an okay song, but the video sucks. Yes, we are weird in Denmark!!
Hey man, I was on your side with Foxy Shazam, remember?  I really don't  like that song.  Not any.  That's all I'm saying.  I've been wanting to use WTF? for a while now, and that was my chance.  But if you notice my last sentence, it says I loved your selections, even the bad ones.
No problem. I'm AM surprised, that you could see the video. I've posted a few danish video's, and I don't think you have been able to see one of them, until now......and then you hate it.
