Another busy week doing voiceovers.
So it's another Encore from 2006.
It's fun and humbling to find and listen to these old shows.
This time Engineer Ken Stanley and I played the Music of the Australian Pub-Rock Band INXS.
If anything, this show is most notable for my inability to say Lead Singer Michael Hutchence's name correctly, lol!
In fact, it was an all-around rough go throughout- sometimes you have…

Finishing up the second half of the Eagles' Desperado album, all through this episode Engineer Ken Stanley and I will try to point out a lot of the similarities between the Outlaw and the Rock Star.
Far more than you might expect!
Take a listen to Outlaw Man, and the regrets of Saturday Night.…

After a very busy week, I had no time for a new show.
I did some digging and found this one that was originally broadcast November 6, 2006.
The Best Concept Album You Probably Haven't Heard!
Years before, Engineer Ken Stanley had told me the Eagles' Desperado LP was a concept album.
I hadn't noticed.
It is a terrific, smart piece of work, and we finally got around to it.
Armed with my own endearing…

I did Voodoo, now let's have some Hoodoo!
And again, with all those spells, curses, etc. that we've been concerned with, I must warn you to watch out for Potions.
Do I believe in this stuff?
NO!!!
But the mind is a funny thing!
Trick Or Treat and Happy Halloween everybody!

It’s that scary time of the year again, Halloween.
And time for a Rockollections Theme within a Theme.
Voodoo!
With all the casting spells, curses, dances and everything else that goes with Voodoo.
Always for a good reason of course, lol!
I will bounce through Decades and Genres for the Music in here.
Please join me!
I don't want to be alone,…

I did this second half of the show the next day after the first, and boy did I feel lousy- what a difference a day makes.
I wouldn't have finished it if I hadn't started it, lol!
But frankly, the show kept me going, made me feel a little better.
Certainly it didn't affect the Music any, I think it's better than Part One.
So while I may not have felt Pleasurable, I have nothing to feel Guilty…

It's another outing where I play Songs I like just because I want to- no Theme!
I need the rest- that Baseball Series overworked my brain, lol!
Because of Today's Radio playing or having played the same songs to death, I tend to have Favorites that are more obscure than the Hits.
At any rate, Come On In, sit anywhere, just don't leave any fluids!
And give a listen, I have some Songs to share with…

It's the 9th Inning, the Grand Finale to the Series, and I am expecting a Walk-Off Home Run, lol!
A couple of thoughts- Willie Mays was the BEST player I ever saw, and when asked a Baseball question of any sort and you don't know the answer, say Babe Ruth.
He was so great, no matter the question, you have a 50-50 chance!
I'll have lyrics you probably haven't heard to a song you know well, a song about honor and the right…

Let's Keep The Ball Rolling in Fair Territory for this Salute To Baseball with this next-to-final Half.
It is Week 3, and 3 is a big number in Baseball, as well as in another institution, and we will briefly explore the Spiritual Side of Baseball.
When you make your first visit to a Major League Ballpark there is nothing that prepares you for it.
You are initially struck by the colors- a beautiful orange and green that…

It is now an Official Game, so even if it rains it counts, lol!
There is a local flavor to this Rockollections Episode.
But not exclusively.
I know I am surprising a good amount of people who never realized how many songs there are about Baseball.
I myself have known it for years, and why I have always wanted to do this Play Ball Series.
Which is just a long winded way of saying this Series will continue, but end,…

Welcome to Week 2, I figure we are about in the Bottom of the Third Inning or Top of the Fourth now.
Continuing with this Salute To Baseball, the song most commonly connected with the Sport is Take Me Out To The Ballgame.
I will!
But there is an interesting history behind that song.
For instance, the guy who wrote it had never seen a Major League Baseball game- and didn't for another 33 years!
It's Folk, Rock…

It's the Second Inning- no score, nobody on and nobody out!
We continue with Baseball, which has long been called Our National Pastime, but probably isn't anymore.
Sex is still a Popular Sport though, and we'll listen to a trick that has always worked for me, lol!
You'll hear about my Love/Hate Relationship with Baseball....like you care!
Then it's a Musical Look at some Centerfielders
It's amazing to think that…

This is the beginning of a Series done on impulse.
I have long intended to do a few shows about Baseball, but I always thought I would do it in the Spring, for Opening Day.
But after watching Derek Jeter's game-winning hit the other night, and realizing that the Playoffs start Tuesday, (there are Wild Card games for Wild Cards now, lol?). the time seemed right and this is it.
Because of the impulsive nature- unlike how I…

After such a mild, beautiful Summer for us here in NYC, it is simple to ease into Autumn.
Plus we have that annual phenomenon to look forward to and enjoy...Indian Summer!
That will be fully noted in this Closing Half of my Salute To Autumn.
You can feel the Changes- the air is brisk and cool, the nights are great for sleeping.
Of course we are just beginning to see Nature's Color Show.
And let's not forget the…

This Show will be broadcast Tuesday, September 23rd, the First Day Of Autumn- so another advance listen for you if you take it.
Seems unusual because we more often seem to see those Equinox changes on the 20th or 21st.
This Salute To Autumn has become a sort of annual tradition at Rockollections.
And rather than play he same Songs over and over, I always try to dig out ones you haven't heard in a long time, or maybe…

I'll start this Episode with a couple of more songs railing at Bosses.
Then the very real problem today of Getting A Job!
It's not easy, and certainly not helped by people nagging you about it.
And the Bills don't stop coming whether you are Working or not- that too will be noted in song!
In the 60's, many groups and artists started to get heavy with their song lyrics, indulging in Social Commentary about the world around…

It's about time I take a Musical Look at a Major Player in what contributes to the Rat Race, The Boss!
I have had a very few who became true close friends, some I couldn't stand, and most I am ambivalent about.
Don't bother me and I won't bother you is my attitude!
But good or bad, we all have them and must deal with them.
I should tell you that when I sat down to do this Chapter my mind went toward the Blues.
So…

This Rat Race Episode will take a first Musical Look at Jobs We Are Lucky Not To Have!
For example, Coal Mines- could a job suck worse than that?
Another mind-numbing job would be Factory Work.
I thank God I don't have to do either of those.
I have done many shows for Sept. 11th in the past, thought I'd move on this year.
But I remember, indeed I will never forget that day- and my heart goes out to those who lost…

It is longer by a Day for The Rat Race this week.
This Chapter will spotlight the above-ground Travel To Work.
For me, it is simply two City Buses, never leaving Brooklyn, sometimes taking so long that I could almost be in Philadelphia by the time I get to Work!
Then some Music for the equally unfortunate souls who Drive To Work.
This is fun because we don't actually have to GO to Work, just listen to Music about it,…
