Thanks to Van Alan, I'm forcing myself to post and listen to April Wine's 1988 release titled "Walking Through Fire".
You would think that an album cover featuring a geetar coming out of (or is that going into?) fire would be some hard rockin' stuff. But no. Guess the cover was picked to sucker idiots like me into picking this up (twice).
Since I was a wee lad when this first came out I liked the opening track, "Rock Myself To Sleep" because it, well, rocked. Back then. Now that I listen to it I'm not convinced that it really does rock. Maybe it does in an 80's way.
I've gone on record somewhere saying that I do not like "Power Play", except for that one song (take a guess which one!). I'm going on record here saying that I dislike this album even more than "Power Play".
Now, the whole album is not a complete bomb. There's a couple decent tracks with the opening track no longer being one of them, and it sucks that the decent tracks are at the end of the album. It just seems like there's too much soft music and I want the April Wine that smokes. Shame that it's not here.
Good thing 5 years later they made amends to me and released "Attitude", an April Wine album that is awesome in it's goodness and, yes, smokiness.

Availability: The single disc is OOP but available for around $21, but there is a twofer set that includes the glorious "Animal Grace", both albums remastered that can be found for around $13.
MSoTW: Total letdown. 2 out of the last 3 haven't been figured out yet. Jeez, last week's song was from a band that had a huge album in the 80's! C'mon! This week's nobody will figure out either.

I hear "traces" of Dee Snider, like Niels does, as well. It also reminds me of Kevin Dubrow of Quiet Riot (R.I.P.), and here towards the end, when it picks up the pace, I hear the Hetfield reference RJHog is talking about.
So this mystery song is a special project by Snider-Dubrow-and Hetfield. Yeah...thats it...
Dont recall ever hearing this April Wine album, so I'll chime in with my opinion later.
Ok, for me, this definitely a mellow album, by April Wine standards. I dont think it suxs, but I would not ever buy it after hearing it. But I would listen to it again, and not be perturbed, or whatever. I thought these 4 tracks were pretty good: "Ariejo", "Open Soul Surgery", "You Don't Have To Act That Way", and "All It Will Ever Be".
And like Jon and Scott, I think both "Harder Faster" and "First Glance" were both very good. But I also really liked "Nature Of The Beast". Enjoyed hearing this Jon.
It's not anyone lead singer that anyone mentioned.
Here's a hint--The lead singer plus a couple other members of this band went on to form a group named after a James Bond movie.
Top 5 Band Names From James Bond Movie Titles
1. Octopussy
2. Thunderball
3. Dr. No
4. From Russia With Love
5. Goldfinger
Was it any of these?
