We've had the geetarist and bassist/lead singer of King's X featured so far, so where do we go from there?
Why, with the drummer of course!
And that's why this week's album is Jerry Gaskill's 2004 solo album titled "Come Somewhere" featuring Jerry on drums, acoustic geetar and some electric geetars as well as vocals. Helping out is some guy named Ty Tabor on geetars, bass, keyboards and other stuff.
This is a bit of a departure from your "typical" King's X in that it's not really that progressive, but rather simple. Sure, there are hints of King's X here and there (what would you expect), but it's still a departure. And that's not a bad thing.
A lot of Beatles influence can also be found, which also should not be that surprising, at least for those that have followed King's X thru these many, many years.
I'd write more, but what's the point?

I'm actually looking forward to this one, but it will be early next week before I can listen. I hope it's more similar to the one two weeks ago than last week's. The album cover is very interesting. And have I ever told you guys how much I love candy cane legs?
Ive started this three times and so far each listen has lost my interest for whatever reasons, mostly because I work at home a lot and if work gets in the way then listening to music becomes difficult so I will turn it off. In this case that was true twice.. For this third listen I dont have any meetings or distractions, and it still isnt really grabbing my attention, there are moments like the nice acoustic work on the opening track, and then the production of the geetar on the second track, but then Johnnys Song and No Love send the album into background noise mode and it never really gets out of that rut.
Im like RJ on this one, the vocals are not good and the songs drone on and on. This inst helping me like Kings X much, I kind of miss Fleetwood Mac month...
