Classic Rock Bottom

Ok, we all love music so much, that I'm sure everyone of us have bought CD's before without having a clue what it sounded like. You just "took a chance", hoping you would like it. Sometimes, it might be an artist you've liked before, but have never heard anything from the release you take a chance on.

Or, sometimes, it may just be a band name that catches your eye...like, "what a cool band name...they GOTTA rock...I'm buying it, and taking a chance..."

Or, maybe, you just like the cover art enough, so you take a chance.

So anyway, list something you took a chance on, and you are real glad you did. For me, I remember taking a chance on "Carnival Of Souls" by Kiss, an artist I liked since the mid 70's, but took a chance on this release, and love it. Another awesome one would be "Back To Reality", by Slaughter. Both of these discs would be at the top of my "under-rated" list.

Two others I can think of right now, where I took a chance, and never had even heard any kind of sound bites, are "Chemical Wedding" by Bruce Dickinson, and "The Lizard" by Saigon Kick. Both very good listens.

I also took a chance on both Black Country Communion records, but with their line-up, you just knew it was gonna be good stuff. As we say in the south...C'MON BACK YA'LL!! WHADDAYA GOT??

The Warning is the one Queensryche I haven't bothered picking up again. Something about it annoys me, it's such a letdown after their EP.

Wow, that is surprising since The Warning has some really great songs on it.

I agree with Jon. I liked it, when I bought it, but the other album, I bought that day in '84, "Tooth an Nail" was much better. But I could hear, that Queensrÿche had "something", so it was not a big surprise, when I bought "Rage For Order" the day it was released, and realized what a master-piece, that one was/is!!!!

That album swore me off of Queensryche, I did not pick up another album by them until Empire, and that was almost a year after it came out, then I eventually picked up the rest.

Maybe one day I'll pick up The Warning, but even thinking about that album leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Wait, you've never heard Operation:mindcrime?

No, I have it. I didn't get it when it came out, it was a pickup after Empire. SO I was definitely late to the party on that one!
