Classic Rock Bottom

So this was an idea I've been stewing on for awhile.  So I'm gonna try it and see if we can get some discussion going realizing it may be into the first week or two of the new year before we get everyone back on here.

Its Top Ten Favorite Album Covers (IMO)...

The catch is this; they have to come from my personal collection and I will list them in no particular order, so its really my "favorite" Ten.  Also, I am not considering any other parts of the packaging, so no inner sleeve, liner notes, or folding flaps will be considered.  Its 100% pure front cover art

This should be fun!

THE CARS - CANDYO

Pre Tawny Kittaen and Mtv, there was this.  Every teenage boys dream.  Great art too

THE EAGLES - ONE OF THESE NIGHTS

Just great art, very detailed and very cool, poster worthy even!

EARTH WIND & FIRE - ALL 'N ALL

Imagery and Fantasy wrapped up into one cover.  EWF had a string of great covers like Journey did

JOURNEY - DEPARTURE

So how do you pick just one?  I don't know but this is the coolest one IMO

KISS - DESTROYER

Maybe the #1 on my list, I wonder how many hours of life Ive lost staring at this one?

LEGS DIAMOND - LEGS DIAMOND

Just a cool image of the guitar/machine gun.  You can really get a sense of whats inside.

POCO - LEGEND

Simple and elegant, yet threatening!  The perfect brand for band.

RUSH - PERMANENT WAVES

Again, how do you pick just one?  This is my favorite in their catalog.

VAN HALEN - VAN HALEN

First time I ever sat and studied each member of a band.  These guys looked menacing and cool.

THE WHO - WHO'S NEXT

Four lads pissing on a wall and that make art?  Yes, Yes it does!

There's an album cover from Supertramp that I know you're just dying to put up.....
Indelibly Stamped?  I would post but I think we need RJ's permission first.  But yes, your right, I was very tempted

If it's artwork, I don't have a problem with it.  But please post a warning at the top of the reply and space down some to post the artwork, that way if somebody opens it at work they are forewarned.

Gotcha...I'll try it soon.  Thanks bro, I've been trying to figure it out but I'm not a smart man...

Two more insprired by the purchase of the blue one...

A discussion of Greatest album covers would not be complete without mentioning the works of Roger Dean, one of the greatest artist in album cover history!!! His work is brilliantly displayed on Yes & Asia album covers, as well as many others!!! Roger Dean had an Amazing vision & his art always took you to a place beyond imaginion!!! Truly, an icon in album cover art!!!

True dat!

Don't forget Hipgnosis...if I'm spelling that right. Anyway, I'm too dumb to figure out how to post 'em, but a few of my favorites are:

Rainbow - "Rising"    just love the fist coming out of the stormy sea, with a rainbow in its grasp.

Uriah Heep - "Demons and Wizards"   Heep has a ton of cool covers, but I always really liked this one. And the back cover was/is cool, too!

Pink Floyd - "Dark Side Of The Moon"    brilliant to me...while being truly simplistic...and that may be part of the attraction for me.

Kiss - "Alive"   a posed for shot for sure, not actually caught in concert...but a great cover that conveys the excitement of a Kiss show.

Everyone has great choices, and I see quite a few I've never seen before. We should just keep this thread going and going and going...

Hipgnosis covers are really cool. UFO's Obession is just out there. and the original cover of Force It is incredibly funny to me. I'll post them when I get a chance.

Another good one is Alan Parson Project's Eve. It look normal with a quick glance, but if you look closer it's really messed up.

Force It is on the second page of this here post.

How does this one strike you?

Does it say Ana Popovic?
