THE SWORD - 3.5 out 6 eggs.
They sound very much like Sabbath. But they also sound like The Sword, at least there's not much difference from the last album they released. A couple of songs are fine, but a whole album is too much. But man, those guitars sounds 100 % like Iommi's. It's a rip off. I like the first track. Good speed. Good riff. Second track is not as good, but sounds just as much as Sabbath. If I want to hear Sabbath, I'll put on a cd with Sabbath. A tiny less Sabbath-sound on track three. But it reminds me of another song? It's okay, and I like the heavyness of this music. Maybe I'm getting used to the sound, because the fourth track doesn't sound as much as Sabbath, as the first couple. But it's perhaps the weakest track so far. Not a track I need to hear again. On the last track, we're back to the Sabbath-sound again. Very much so. Wasn't this on Vol. 4?
And how many times did I mention Sabbath: 8 times.
The Sword--Thumbs Up
Ya know, even though the songs have a tendency to sound the same, I still liked this (listened to the whole album today, killer version of "Cheap Sunglasses, I must say). I have all The Sword albums yet can't tell you any song off of any of them. But I still like 'em, whenever I listen to 'em. It's better than the Kiss album (which I liked), but maybe I should listen to all The Sword albums back to back to back to back over and over and over and over again so I can finally differentiate each one. Or, maybe not. Still, very good album.
BCC--Thumbs Up
Got done listening to this about 20 min ago on the drive home. It started off weak, then by track 4 and thru the rest of the album it totally kicked ass.
Surprise, surprise, surprise...Rjhog, umm, SURPRISED me with 3 strong picks. Still won't pick up that Kiss album though. Unless I can find it for a nickel.
