Classic Rock Bottom

Yes indeed, I'm one of those who have managed to have never heard anything from Alter Bridge.

I know they are very popular with other denizens of this board, but I just was never interested in checking them out.

However...

An issue of Classic Rock magazine a few months back had a cover feature interview with the band and the special CD they put with every issue was an "exclusive best of collection" for the band called The Story So Far..

I finally listened to that CD this afternoon at work and HOLY SHIT!

While 7 of the tracks included are from their live release and I generally prefer to hear studio cuts before live versions, this was an eye opening introduction to the band.

It started off with "Addicted to Pain" which I just freaking loved. Other studio cuts included "All Hope Is Gone", "Slip To the Void", "I Know It Hurts" and the amazing "Ghosts of Days Gone By"

I even liked the live version of the ballad "Watch Over You".

I think I'm going to have to get my hands on at least one of their studio albums. Hell my co-worker who is decidedly NOT a rock and metal fan heard some of the music and said she liked what she was hearing too.

I seem to have surely missed the boat on Alter Bridge.

There's fans here, but I'm not one of 'em. They're ok, but nothing I want to buy.  If I remember the last album, a lot of it sounded like Creed which I could really care less about.

TR, all of the songs in that quote above are from ABIII.  I highly recommend that you start there, but I also highly recommend Blackbird, which has the studio version of Watch Over You.  The title track of Blackbird is also epic.  You can't go wrong with either of those releases, unless you're Jon, then you're just plain wrong.

I'm interested to know what you think when you spin one of the studio albums.
