Alice Cooper

Welcome 2 My Nightmare

Sept 2011

1. I Am Made Of You

2. The Congregation

3. Disco Bloodbath Boogie Fever

4. What Baby Wants

5. I Gotta Get Outta Here

With the long-belated return of Bob Ezrin to oversee the proceedings, "Welcome 2 My Nightmare" is a departure from the mostly-hard-edged sounds that musical chameleon Cooper's been churning out for a little over a decade. Like the original album, there are numerous radio-friendly pop songs as well as musical and lyrical oddities that only Alice could get away with. But does it work as a follow-up to his first solo album? Yes and no. But in my humble opinion, this is his best studio album since 1994's "Last Temptation," an album which was sort of a prequel to the original "Nightmare" and has never been recognized as the masterpiece that it is (thanks to the record company's complete and total mishandling of the release). Doesn't quite match the brilliance of either album, but it tags close behind.

Paul Young

Chronicles

Mar 2011

6. House Of Many Nations

7. Your Shoes

8. Grace Of God

9.  One Heart

10. We Did Nothing Wrong

A full time member of “MIKE & THE MECHANICS” since 1985. Paul was to remain with Mike and the Mechanics with many hits under his built and tour the world until his untimely death in July 2000, following sudden heart failure. A few years after he passed away, unfinished material he had been working on was recovered from his home studio, a total of thirty five songs, some of which have since been carefully recorded and completed by musician friends and collaborators who had known and worked with him.  The album features musicians such as Graham Gouldman and Eric Stewart of 10cc, Victor Emerson and Ian Wilson of Sad Cafe, and of course Paul Carrack and Mike Rutherford of Mike and the Mechanics.

Alice Cooper--Thumbs Up

I was pleasantly surprised by this. I'm impressed. I was probably one of the few not anticipating this, I'm fine with "Brutal Planet" and that whole trilogy and wasn't expecting much from this. Boy, was I wrong. Strongly considering a purchase, most probably will before the end of the year. And I thought I was going to save myself some coin. Didn't Bob Ezrin produce Kiss' greatest album ever?

Paul Young--Thumbs Up

Good listen, as with Alice Cooper much better than I thought. Not a big fan of M&TM, and this sounds a bit like them but it's still good. Not considering a purchase but that's not to say it's bad. Just not my cup of tea to listen to more than once.

Seriously....how good is that Alice Cooper album? Damn!

"Didn't Bob Ezrin produce Kiss' greatest album ever?"

Yes, he did produce Music From The Elder.

He also produced one that is not as well known or loved called Destroyer.

Yes, I was talking about the first one. The. Greatest. Kiss. Album. Ever.

Ya, I liked it too, I listened to it a couple times before buying, but once I was done I ran to Best Buy and picked it up.
How much was it at BB?
9.99, also picked up the DT for the same price.
Same as amazon for AC. DT cost me 14.15, but I got the version with the dvd, don't know if you got the cd only version?
Yeah, I got the CD only version.  The DVD companion verison was 16.99.
The new Alice is terrific.

ALICE COOPER - THUMBS EVEN

Let me start by saying, that "Disco Bloodbath Boogie Fever" is utter crap. And give me a f...... break regarding "What Baby Wants" !!! It could easily had been Lady Gaga on this track, instead of "whatshername". There are some good music on the album, but there's also a great deal of crap. I've never been near, to be a AC-fan, and this album won't make me into one.

PAUL YOUNG - THUMBS DOWN

I thought, it was the OTHER Paul Young, when I saw the name. Hmmmm, this is not for me, and I don't think, it comes as a surprise. This is 100% easy-listening music. I'm so bored, I almost felt asleep. But it's not bad in a THAT bad way. It sounds like Hall & Oats at times, they are also booring, by the way. It's just not made for me, this music.

Wow.

Now I say this without having listened to either one yet. I agree with you in a kinda sort of way about Alice Cooper. I've never been what you would call a big fan of Alice Cooper. Sure I've liked the stuff that was on the radio or played back in the days of actual videos on MTV. But I have never bought any albums. I did see Alice Cooper live once and that was a really good show though.

But I thoroughly disagree with you about the Hall and Oates comment. They aren't boring.

Not all the way through, I guess. I like a few tracks, and Hall is a great singer. He is the singer, right?
