SMASH and heres why... Sound Quality.

Hansen is no Gramm so I can't say I prefer this to the original, but I do love the way Foreigner handled their re-recordings. On Cant Slow DOwn they did justice to each and every track.  I also like that this sounds like they took a little more liberty with the new band because the Cant Slow Down version is almost note-for-note perfect with the original this has obvious differences, most notably (besides the vocals) the geetar work at the end which could have been better but what do you do!

The only other band that did this as well or maybe a little better was Triumph with their recent Greatest Hits package.

Journey and KISS's re-records were hit and miss ... but really mostly miss.

Was Triumph's a re-recording?  I thought it was remixed.
Remixed...  but the sound is soooo much better and enhanced that I get that confused.
I think the recording is fine. I'll be generous and give it a SMASH but I think Lou Gramm had a better sense of urgency in his voice than Kelly Hansen has here.
I'm going with STASH. It's not bad but the geetar solo sounds kind of weak and there's more of a distinctive sound of keyboard noodling. I'll stick with the original.
Unnecessary TRASH!!!!! I love the original though.
