Everybody loves a good sitcom, right? I know I do. So I thought I'd present you with a list of my Top 10 All-Time Sitcoms. My list will include the show and a video clip if one is available. And, my list is in order of my preference. I'm starting with number 10 and counting down. Here goes:
10. Welcome Back, Kotter
One of my favorites as a kid. It introduced John Travolta as Vinnie Barbarino, but for some reason my favorite was Arnold Horshack.
9. Curb Your Enthusiasm
From the brainchild of Seinfeld. This show very much reminds me of Seinfeld, except they use nasty language. It's awesome. Larry David is hilarious. It's amazing the amount of trouble he gets into. My favorite season is when Leon arrives. The interaction between Leon and Larry keeps me in stitches. This clip is rated R, so no kiddies.
8. Friends
This show had a great cast, and everybody was funny in their own way. I'd say my favorite would be Joey.
7. Family Ties
Michael J. Fox was great in this 80's sitcom.
6. M*A*S*H
It's amazing how funny war can be. Alan Alda was fantastic, but really, everybody in this show was very funny. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a real clip, so here is a blooper clip, with some foul language.
5. All In The Family
No individual character has ever been as racist and funny at the same time as Archie Bunker. I'm very surprised that this show was on television way back then, it was way ahead of it's time in character development/flaws and in subject matter. But I never fail to laugh when I watch it.
Sorry, but all of the available clips are kind of long.
4. The Andy Griffith Show
Everyone should be treated to the brilliance of Don Knotts. This is quite possibly the funniest scene ever.
3. Cheers
Another 80's sitcom. So many funny characters, but I always liked Norm the best.
2. The Office
Steve Carell is hilarious. Some people don't get this show, but it cracks me up.
1. Seinfeld
The show about nothing. What a great concept. But it's a lie. This show was about everything and anything. Anything that can happen to you has happened to someone on this show. Four great star characters, but great supporting actors as well (especially Newman). Here's a clip of somebody's ten favorite moments. These may not be my top 10 moments, but it's a good representation of the show.
Well, there is my list of Top 10 Sitcoms. I have some honorable mentions as well:
Happy Days
Gilligan's Island
Sanford And Son
Good Times
Three's Company

GREAT list RJ.
Curb Your Enthusiasm is far and away the funniest show on TV right now.
Loved the MASH outtakes & Seinfeld highlights& Don Knotts!
And I agree with most of your picks but not all.
I think the Mary Tyler Moore show should be in there, and probably The Honeymooners, just off the top of my head.
I hardly watched Friends or Family Ties, so they can go, lol!
Nice job though,
Mike
I remember The Mary Tyler Moore Show, but The Honeymooners was a little before my time. However, the following clip from that show is freakin' hilarious:
The Honeymooners was before all our times, lol!
But so was Laurel & Hardy, The Marx Brothers & Charlie Chaplin- and they are all funny to this day.
Right grasshopper, lol?
I hated everything about Seinfeld, except for the episode "The Contest."
In regards to the Honeymooners, that show cracked me up. When I was a freshman in high school my English teacher showed episodes in class one day and I was the only one who laughed. I was on the floor.
For me and this is just what I liked as opposed to whether or not some are considered classic or not.
All In The Family
Sports Night
M*A*S*H*
Cheers
Frasier
Who's The Boss
Benson
Greg The Bunny
Accidentally on Purpose
Are You Being Served?
Friends
Nice list... For me M*A*S*H* is aces! But there are a few other great shows that would've made my list to... like...
King Of Queens
Everybody Loves Raymond
Soap
I tried to watch an episode of Friends a while back and it just seemed so dated, I don't think it has stood the test of time very well.
Cool post..
I totally agree on Seinfeld, Cheers and Friends!!! I allways seems to laugh out loud when I see an episode of either of these sitcoms. In the 80's, I liked Family Ties too, but I don't think, I could watch it now, without getting bored.
I don't know, if you can call it a "Sitcom", but I've allways loved "Blackadder". I don't know, if it's know in the US? There were 4 seasons, and each of them with 6 episodes, from different ages, with a "Blackadder" from that age. Rowan Atkinson is Blackadder, and is MUCH, much better at this role, than Mr. Bean :
This scene ALLWAYS make me laugh. It's so much my humour. But it's not Blackadder (with the feather in the hat) who is the funny one in the clip, it's Lord Flashheart.
Here's mine:
10. Better Off Ted
9. The Many Loves Of Dobie Gillis
8. My Name Is Earl
7. Soap
6. The Office
5. Community
4. Seinfeld
3. Newsradio
2. Cheers
1. WKRP In Cincinnati
Tried to get a video of the turkey drop episode, but it's not letting me post it for some reason so here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ST01bZJPuE0
Ahhh yes, I forgot about WKRP in Cincinnati. I loved that show when it was on.
The lack of music rights killed the chances for the show to be appreciated on DVD.
There are no birthdays today
