Tempe, Arizona (AFD News) In a shocking twist to some fans, Steve Perry has decided to rejoin Journey.
According to an anonymous source close to the band, the reunion came together when the band got together to watch "The Sopranos" earlier this year. "They all love 'The Sopranos' and during a weekend marathon of the show, they decided that it was time to get back together," stated the source.
"Don't Stop Believin", a song off the multi-platinum "Escape" album from 1981, had renewed success due to the final episode of "The Sopranos". This sparked rumours of Perry rejoining the band, however this was vehemently denied from Perry as well as the rest of the band.
"Time heals all wounds, I guess," said the source, "but when they were all together watching the show, someone came up with the idea for an album based on "The Sopranos" and a few weeks later they had laid down some tracks. So far they've been re-rewriting the songs off of 'Escape" but changing the words so they all have something to do with that show."
"If you look at the song titles from that album, you can see that they're on to something. Everything there has something to do with that show and I'm sure the fans will be pleased," continued the source. "I have heard some of the tracks and they are some of the best stuff Journey has put out in years."
According to this source, the album is tentatively titled "Escape II" with a release date expected to be announced soon.
Requests to speak with anyone from the band have all been unanswered.
