Classic Rock Bottom

Is it just me, or do you sometimes totally get into a band (or even a genre for that matter) that you have never really been all that into before?  If so, please share it with us in this thread.  Heck, I'll even start the ball rolling.

Right now, I'm really into Dream Theater.  As a matter of fact, I'm listening to their most recent offering as I type this.  I currently own three DT albums, but I have purchased three others and those are in transit to my earthly mailbox.  I can't wait to get 'em.  This band is terrific.  Musically, all members are extremely proficient at their instruments.  But I think I've been even more drawn to the vocalist (James Labrie).  It's wonderful stuff.  And on top of that, it's prog, which also seems to be on my mind a lot lately.

So what about you?

I actually had something like this happen just last night, at home. I bought Halford's "Made Of Metal" back when it was new, listened a few times, and did not really get into it. But I spun it again last night, and really enjoyed it this time.

I thought it was a GOOD album but overall it was missing that something special that would've made it a GREAT album.

Not "really into" but I recently watched "The History Of The Eagles" or whatever it was titled, and had to listen to "Hotel California". Music docs suck that way..I watch 'em and then I have to listen to the music.

I watched that too.  I enjoyed it and thought about how I need to cruise through the catalog.

I got the feeling they don't like Don Felder. Could just be me.

Yeah, poor guy.

I have also really gotten back into Joanna Dean "Misbehavin" album. She recorded one solo album and one with Bad Romance (which is good too) and then disappeared. Her Misbehavin album is an excellent bluesy hard rock album. Love that album.

I'm diggin' me some Uriah Heep right now.  I have Abominog and Sea Of Light under my belt.  They are really good.  But last night I listened to Firefly and it was excruciatingly painful.  That is one terrible album.

Abominog is probably on my top-10 of all time.

But it's the only UH-album, that I really love. Im not an expert, though. I only bought the 3 albums, Pete Goalby sang on: Abominog, Head First and Equator. Great singer, that Pete Goalby.

I saw Uriah Heep live in 1988.

By the way: Lee Kerslake is unbeliveable good on drums!!!! As he was on Ozzy's first two, and (no contest) best albums.

Oh, and I'm in to Prog at the moment

I was raised listening to "The Magicians Birthday" and "Demons and Wizards", which are must haves!  But also "Abominog" and "Head First" are great albums

Scott, do you have the re-issued version of Demons And Wizards that has the bonus track Why on it?

Yup!  Its a jammin' track!
