Classic Rock Bottom

Via Billboard/Reuters/Gibson and more: "After almost 40 years with EMI, rock legends Queen have signed a deal with Universal Music Group, according to Reuters. Re-releases of the band's studio albums have been announced for 2011, which also marks Queen's 40th anniversary. “We are very excited, after all this time, to be embarking on a new phase of our career – with a new record company, with new ideas and new dreams,” Queen guitarist Brian May said in a statement. The switch from EMI to Universal has been rumored since May but was only recently confirmed. This marks another high-profile loss for EMI, who have parted ways with The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and Radiohead in recent years.
Starting in 2011, Queen albums will appear on Universal subsidiary Island Records. Reportedly, the label will release each of the band's 15 studio albums with bonus content and remastered sound. In March, the first five re-releases – Queen, Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, A Night at the Opera and A Day at the Races – will hit stores and online retailers."

I wonder if anybody here is interested in this?
Not me. No way. Not at all.
I am... Thanks to this site, some of their early work has caught my interest, and of course I will be re-purchasing "A Night At The Opera". But Im looking most forward to Jazz, and Hot Space
I sure hope the price is reasonable. I'm sick of these remastered discs with "extra tracks" (that term is used loosely) running 20 plus bucks. I'd like to pick up The Game and News Of The World myself.
While I don't begrudge them reissuing their material, I hope it is priced reasonably.

While I actually liked Paul Rodgers with Queen, I don't much see the point of the band continuing unless they can somehow resurrect Freddie Mercury.
Well, it should be interesting. Wonder if they are rolling this out overseas first and then the states. Thing is, they are still under contract to Hollywood Records in the states (Disney owned), so they might be import only.

"Following the recent departure of Sir Paul McCartney with his Wings and solo back catalogues for independent label Concord, under-fire music giant EMI has been dealt yet another blow. Queen are to leave their longtime UK label for rival Universal when the band's contract expires at the end of this year. (This news does not affect their label deals in other territories.)"

So unless something happens and Hollywood steps up, we might be spending a bit o' cash on these.
Good point, I wont be purchasing as imports that's for sure.
Good thing is the Amazon UK site...I know you can get blu-rays there sometimes much cheaper than in the US, so that might be an option.
I love Queen, but I think I have, what I need. MIGHT be, that I'm going to buy "A Night at the Opera", because IMHO it IS the second or third best album ever released.
I have them all however the sound isn't that great. They are remastered, but remastered about 18 or so years ago. They can do a MUCH better job, that's why I'll probably have to pick them all up again. Good thing you live near England, I'll just toss some Euros your way, you go to England, pick up what I want and ship them out. What a guy you are!
