REDEMPTION!
Last week we looked at bands at the point in time they stumbled and recorded albums that left us scractching our heads. But, because we love our bands we kept hope alive that they would return to form so we could look the naysayers in the eye and tell them "I told you so!!" This week Im posting 3 tracks from albums that I think redeemed a bands image an dput them back on the worldwide map!

KISS HAS NEVER REDEEMED THEMSELVES WITH ANY ALBUM, KISS - LOVE GUN IS THEIR BEST, MAKING LOVE GUN THEIR BEST & FINAL ALBUM WORTH MENTIONING, COMPILATIONS AND ALIVE! EXCEPTIONS ARE ALIVE II & DOUBLE PLATINUM, AND ACE'S SOLO ALBUM KICKS ASS!!! EVERY STUDIO ALBUM SINCE HAS BEEN PURE CRAP, NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL RELEASES...
AEROSMITH, GREAT REDEMPTION ALBUM, WHERE THEY TRIED AND FAILED WITH DONE WITH MIRRORS, THEY SUCCEEDED WITH PERMANENT VACATION!!! BEST TRACKS HEARTS DONE TIME, HANGMAN JURY...
DEEP PURPLE REDEEMED THEMSELVES WITH PERFECT STRANGERS, THE ALBUM GAVE THE BAND NEW LIFE... MY FAVORITE TRACK IS KNOCKING AT YOUR BACK DOOR & PERFECT STRANGERS...
I respectfully disagree. I think Creatures is a redemption for Kiss, and if not fully redeemed, then add Lick It Up. Don't get me wrong, for me, they didn't need redeeming, because I happen to love Dynasty, Unmasked and Elder. But that's just me. For many fans that lost Kiss with those three albums, Creatures and LIU got them back, with Kissfan being an obvious exception to that.
Which group of albums do you find yourself listening to the most?
1 - Original band era (Through Love Gun)
2 - Dynasty through Creatures
3 - Non-makeup era (Lick It Up Through Carnival)
4 - The Rest...
Definitely number 1. But I do like numbers 2 and 3 a lot. One exception being Unmasked, which I've listened to in it's entirety or in parts several times of late.
Wow, you call yourself KISSFAN, and still you have ALMOST the same meaning about when KISS didn't make any more good music as I have, and I do not call myself anything near a "Kissfan" anymore, even though I was one of the biggest ones from '76 untill '80 or '81. I DO think, that "Dynasty" was the last really great album they made, and it was also around that time, that it was still very exciting to be a fan, since they had splendid new costumes and a great show. Since Dynaty, it went downhill, and haven't stopped since. By the way: Didn't you forget Paul Stanley's solo-album from '78? That is even better than Ace's, I think.
I guess, you must REALLY like classic KISS, and that's cool in my book.
He's a purist in the truest form. And his points are totally in line with tons of KISSFAN's. But I do have to agree with you on Dynasty, its one of my favorites from them and it has never got back to form since...
The only redeeming album in the whole Kiss Katalog is "The Elder". Anything else is just plain foolish thinking.
Aerosmith un-redeemed themselved with "Permanent Vacation" an absolute craptacular album. "Pump" blows this away. "Done With Mirrors" blows this away. Welcome to Aerosmith selling themselves out with this album. Just a disgusting waste of plastic. If everyone recycled this album, we wouldn't have a plastic shortage for years to come. Think of all the oil used to produce this! And now you know why gas prices are so high.
I guess you're right with Deep Purple.
I disagree and agree with Jon on Aerosmith. I like PV but Pump is better.
I should learn to be more controversial on my forum. I really like Done With Mirrors and the albums from PV to now are still relatively new to me (new meaning since joining this site)
And I like the Elder too, but you have to admit it wasn't anything resembling the career saver they hoped for.
The Elder was a total flop, almost career killer. But the album is very good. People get it stuck in their mind what they think a band should be or sound like, and any "experimentation" is frowned upon. But The Elder has some great songs (A World Without Heroes, Only You, Mr. Blackwell, Dark Light, Under The Rose and The Oath), but because of a stinker like Odyssey, and the image change with the shorter hair, fans think it's terrible. Notice I didn't say Just A Boy was a stinker, cause I like it.
And Scott, are you saying you haven't heard Pump?
