MONSTER MAGNET... Thumbs 40% up
How come all songs that have "100 million" in the title all start with bass riffs? I'm just sayin! The album cover is horrifically bad. Why do bands ignore this? The music was pretty good at times and ok at other times. I liked Perish in Fire and All Outta Nuthin, 2 out of 5 (40%)

BLACK MOUNTAIN... Thumbs down

I'm gonna complain about the album cover again. Looks thrown together at the last minute, it just says something about what they think of us as consumers. And then when the music can't overcome the packaging, it doubly weak. I didn't hear much of anything to like, I don't like the vocals and the music is uninteresting

ELTON JOHN and LEON RUSSELL... Thumbs neutral
I love "almost" everything Elton John did up to until mid 80's, then not so much. He's been very much hit or miss since, mostly miss. This was really a very nice listen. I really liked Jimmy Rodgers Dream, very well done. And really all the tracks were pleasant. but its just not my cup of tea. I will pass on this one.
I agree about the covers.
Monster Magnet (Thumbs 3/4 up)

This is pretty good. I can't remember what I thought about Gods And Punks when we saw the video, but it's not bad. I really like the last song, All Outta Nothin'. That, in my opinion, is the best song on this NMC.

Black Mountain (Thumbs 3/4 up)

I liked this a lot to start off. The lyrical style, other than the fact that there is a female voice as well, reminds me of The Parlor Mob. But after about the 3rd song, it all started to sound the same. Everything seemed like it was the same speed. But I do think its a little better than average.

Elton John & Leon Russell (Thumbs Even)

I'm giving credit here for the fact that two living legends got together and made a record. It's not bad, but it's a little to country sounding for me. Not that I totally dislike a song because it's country, but this may be just a bit to twangy. However, I do like the last song, I Should Have Sent Roses. I would definitely put that song on an easy listening playlist.
Monster Magnet---Thumbs halfway
I dunno....this isn't bad, but it's not the Monster Magnet I'm used to, whoch should be a good thing I suppose. I kid of forgot about these guys, last album I bought was in the late 90's, so kudos to them fr still being around. Listenable, but not a buy for me.

Black Mountain---Thumbs up
Kind of reminded me of Timbuk 3 with some Zeppelin thrown in. I really enjoyed this, seemed to stumble a bit with the first song posted, but I got into it. A possible buy if I could find it for a buck or two.

Elton John & Leon Russell--Thumbs up
I actually dreaded hearing this because it was going to be so soft. And it is, but not soft in the gushy sort of way. The countryish tone didn't turn me away either. Nice album to listen to we sitting on the back porch while your mind is slowly drifting away...
