Classic Rock Bottom

ROCKLANDWONDERLAND

Sometimes the title of a song says all that you need to know.  Theres no theme or fore-thought, just start playing music and see what happens!  This is what happened to me...

Here's your playlist....

Enjoy...

TITLE:  Rocklandwonderland
BAND: Kim Mitchell
ALBUM: Rockland
YEAR: 1989
[Pulled from Greatest Hits]
What is this?  Its a Rock Song!  Although I had heard of Kim Mitchell, I never really listened to him until Jon introduced us some time ago.  And am I glad he did!

TITLE: Good Lovin' Gone Bad
BAND: Bad Company
ALBUM: Straight Shooter
YEAR: 1975
Great album from an even greater band!  This is the follow up to their multi-platinum debut, and utilized material written around the same time, so these two albums together are almost perfect in my book!  The snap of the drums and the vocal on this track specifically really are very cool and drove me into playing major air drums.

TITLE: Angel Of Death
BAND: Thin Lizzy
ALBUM: Renegade
YEAR: 1981
Many woudl say Thin Lizzy was in decline as they entered the 80's, sales would support such an argument, but I really like their 80's output.  And this opening track is a really cool up tempo rocker.

TITLE: Different Strings
BAND: Rush
ALBUM: Permanent Waves
YEAR: 1980
My favorite Rush album!  The details in this song are stunning, please give it a close listen if your not familiar with it.  This is the album that found Rush re-thinking their progressive songwriting, as it seems they had taken that version to its logical conclusion and thus, Different Strings really has a special meaning, at least to me.

TITLE: Moving In Stereo
BAND: The Cars
ALBUM: The Cars
YEAR: 1978
For anyone who watched Fast Times At Ridgemont High this song was the ambiance in a very steamy part of the movie.  And it worked!  What a great album, it plays like a greatest hits album.  This is one of the coolest songs to crank up and listen to with your ears perfectly centered between a set of speakers.

TITLE: Somebody's Been Sleepin' In My Bed
BAND: Foghat
ALBUM: Boogie Motel
YEAR: 1979
Cool track off Foghats last album of the 70's.  Also the last Foghat album to focus on rock and roll as the band decidedly went in a more new wave direction after sales declined.  Too bad to, this is a cool record as evidenced by this track!

TITLE: Reach For The Sky
BAND: Firehouse
ALBUM: Hold Your Fire
YEAR: 1992
I know of one who won't like this, but others will.  I always thought Firehouse was a strong band, and their first 3 releases prove it, to me at least.

TITLE: Too Daze Gone
BAND: Billy Squire
ALBUM: Don't Say No
YEAR: 1981
This is one of those rare albums that you put on and just let it go and everyone loved it.  Ive always loved this track and it s a perfect hidden gem on an album full of recognizable hits, beats, and riffs.

TITLE: Eminence Front
BAND: The Who
ALBUM: It's Hard
YEAR: 1982
We'll close with 2 of rock and roll's most treasured bands.  Eminence Front was an instant classic, you just knew this song wasn't going to fade away.  We've discussed the Who on this forum a lot, but It's Hard gets ignored or panned, its not their strongest effort, but its not really that bad.  This song, however, is on an HNL!!!  A Ho'll Nutha Level!!!

TITLE: Over The Hills And Far Away
BAND: Led Zeppelin
ALBUM: Houses of the Holy
YEAR: 1973
It's really tough to reason why a Zeppelin tracks qualifies as "Hidden" Treasure, but this week a thread was started in the new Acoustics group.  And I immediately thought of this track, so when I went to put this list together, that's the reasoning I used to include it.  Don't argue, it worked logically for me  :-) ... Anyway, a true masterpiece.

Shame though....shame that you put this on the wrong post. Sigh.

Maybe I'm not so brilliant after all...

That's kind of sad. You put yourself on a pedestal, yet it was made out of wet mud. Now it's just a muddy goo splotch on the ground.
There's only one thing I put on a pedestal, but you'd have to watch 40 Year Old Virgin to find out what it is...
Yep, it was that one song...was that a sequel to a Bun Juvi song?
