Classic Rock Bottom

I want you to put some thought into this question. I think we can all agree the state of classic rock radio is pathetic these days. I am so sick of the ever shrinking playlist and repetition of the same tired songs. Let's pretend there is a classic rock/hard rock radio station not owned by one of the corporations like Clear Channel, so you have much more freedom in terms of a playlist. Pretend you are the program director and are assigned to design a two hour playlist for classic rock radio. The songs must be from the classic rock or classic hard rock genre (preferably a bit of a mix)

Here are the rules:

1) You cannot repeat the same artist twice.

2) You will program two hours of music with each hour containing ten-twelve songs.

3) Your playlist must be somewhat realistic. In other words, don't program something like Death Angel who never had any chance of airplay.

4) The songs must be radio appropriate. In other words, if they contain a lot of profanity, etc don't list them because we are talking about "corporate" radio.

5) Mix your playlist up.

I will post mine later.

Love the Dire Straits choice.  Making Movies is one of the best!  I give your second hour a slight edge over hour 1 only because I can hear the transitions between songs and it feels like it flows a bit smoother!

Okay, I'll give it a try:

First hour:

1. The Beatles - Taxman

2. Def Leppard - No no no

3. Accept - Princess of the dawn

4. Queen - Milionare waltz

5. Led Zeppelin - Friends

6. The Who - Acid Queen

7. Wings - With A little luck

8. Cheap Trick - All we need is a dream

9. Riot - Outlaw

10. Frank Zappa - Cosmic Debris

11. Soundgarden - Suicide

12. Jethro Tull - Skating away, on the thin ice of the new day (from Live Bursting out)

Second hour:

1. Roger Hodgson - Give me love

2. Rush - Red Sector A

3. City Boy - Cigarettes

4. Saxon - Taking your chances

5. Judas Priest - Before the dawn

6. Van Halen - In a simple ryhme

7. Deep Purple - Anyone's daughter

8. Paul Stanley - Take me away (Together as one)

9. George Harisson - Give me love (I hope it's okay, to have the same TITLE twice?)

10. Pearl Jam - In Hidding

11. Iron Maiden - Drifter

12. Whitesnake - Rock'n'roll Angels

That's a very diverse playlist!
Oh, it could have been much more diverse!!
Hey, a third straight "album cuts" station, and another one that I'd have programmed in my radio's memory.  I'm not surprised at all that a Beatles tune led off for you, just as you probably won't be surprised at what led off for me.  I think I'm gonna give a slight edge to the second hour, but only because The Starchild resides there.
Niels knows that The Beatles hung the moon.  Nice lists, I to give hour 2 a slight edge, but I love that WIngs track stuck in the middle of hour 1 - Nice touch!
You bet, they hung the moon!!
I pick hour one because it has Zappa which you NEVER hear on the radio.
Not even "Bobby Brown"?

I came up with two very different shows...

Day 1

1. Supertramp - Cannonball
2. Red Rider - Human Race
3. Boston - Foreplay/Long Time
4. Toto - Girl Goodbye
5. The Babys - Head First
6. Cheap Trick - Surrender
7. Foreigner - Dirty White Boy
8. Journey - Precious Time
9. Le Roux - Addicted
10. The Tubes - She's A Beauty
11. The Goo Goo Dolls - Here is Gone
12. Steve Forberts Midsummer's Night Toast

Day 2

1. Grand Funk Railroad - Were An American Band
2. Kenny Wayne Shepherd - Blue on Black
3. Nazareth - This Flight Tonight
4. Jefferson Starship - Fast Buck Freddie
5. Faces - Stay With Me
6. BTO - Hey You
7. Bad Company - Cant Get Enough
8. UFO - Rock Bottom
9. Triumph - Fight The Good Fight
10. Shooting Star - Flesh and Blood
11. Aerosmith - Back In The Saddle
12. Starz - Coliseum Rock

Make it 4 straight "album cut" stations.  Nothing wrong with that.  I'm having trouble picking which hour I like best.  I'll give the slightest of edges to hour 1, but both hours are cool.  Love the BTO track.
Hour two for me and here's why: I am sick of that Boston song. To me Foreplay kicks butt and Long Time kinda, well, sucks. And no Foo Goo Fighter Dolls for me! Both lists are good, but choice #2 it is!
