What's The 4-1-1?

The sextet follow up their self-titled 2003 album with another healthy does of rock and roll that bleeds that classic feel while maintaining a modern sound.

Genre

Rock / Hard Rock

The Good

I really enjoyed a lot of this album. Jason Heath provides the lead vocals and electric guitars and he's got a definite good vibe going there. The guitar work from both he and Matt Johnson is very solid. There's a real 70's classic rock radio feel to many of the songs including the opening track "Turn On (The Radio)". The vocals range from straightforward deliveries to more rhythmic styles. The latter is best reflected on "Free 'n' Clean". A more ominous tone in both music and vocals is the track "South of Babylon". It's a good song that just has a darker feel to it.

The best songs on the CD are "Killing Tonight @ 11:00", "Pieces of your Heart" (which has a great melodic tone running throughout the song) and "Asphalt..."

The Bad

There is nothing overly bad about the CD, but some of the songs are flat. They are just sort of "there". The song "Talkin' 'Bout Leaders" is decent but the chorus is rather incredibly weak.

The Verdict

The Telegenic has given the music world a solid album that features at least 6 tracks that should be getting some serious attention at radio stations across the country. I do know that I enjoyed listening to most of the album and on the second spin of the CD even found myself humming along to the music.

Did You Know?

The Telegenic guitarist Matt Johnson and drummer Abe Etz played in a side project with Audioslave guitarist Tom Morello.
