Lucky 13. Hmmm... The SHT list is entering its teenage phase. I entered teenagedom in 1978 amidst the Disco craze and New Wave movement. Hang on... Im having flashbacks...
Whoa, that was a rush... ok I'm back, lets not go back there again. How about just some real cool hidden treasures?
Title: She Sells SanctuaryBand: The CultAlbum: LoveYear: 1985(Pulled from the compilation 'High Octane Cult')
Cool song, cool band, nice use of the acoustic guitar, nice beat. Is there anything wrong about this song?
Title: You've Got What I NeedBand: Shooting StarAlbum: Shooting StarYear: 1979Shooting Star is one of those bands you hear on the radio and the next day you ran out to the local record shop and bought up what you could. I heard a live concert broadcast of them and to this day I still follow them and anxiously wait for new music, thank goodness they are still active. But this track is just cool and showcases alot of their talent.
Title: Do Your Own ThingBand: UnionAlbum: The Blue RoomYear: 2000
John Corabi and Bruce Kulick's second effort is a real nice mix of riff based rock and roll and new alternative feel. They really strike a nice balance of styles on this release. I like this lead off track as an introduction for you all.
Title: Really Don't MindBand: ChilliwackAlbum: Opus XYear: 1982Opus X has two personalities. Side 1 being radio friendly and side 2 just outright, in your face, rock and roll. This is from side 2.
Title: AfterglowBand: INXSAlbum: SwitchYear: 2005Mid way through the list, time to slow it down a little. This track is just slick, clean, and beautiful. I love the lyrics and think that JD Fortune is a perfect replacement for this bands new direction.
Title: Shooting StarBand: Moonstone ProjectAlbum: Rebel on the RunYear: 2009Melodic Rock from James Christian. I heard this on another site and picked it up, this is a cool track, nice return to riff based rock and roll. The rest of the CD is not bad either.
Title: Heavy On Your LoveBand: REO SpeedwagonAlbum: Nine LivesYear: 1979I always have loved Nine Lives, it has some of their best stadium anthems still. Its heavy (no pun intended), and Richrath just gets after it all album long! This is a cool opening track to get the blood pumping.
Title: High HopesBand: Sammy HagarAlbum: The Essential Red CollectionYear: ???Not sure when this was originally released, my Zune marketplace isnt helping on this one... But I picked this compilation up because it contained a lot of Hagars Montrose work as well and good bit of his solo stuff, and the remastering was good. But this is the track I keep listening to. I love the crunching rhythm guitar, that always catches my ear.
Title: Why Me?Band: Planet P ProjectAlbum: Planet P ProjectYear: 1983Tony Carey and his work has gotten the attention of some on this site. Heres a teaser for the Planet P Project which is a very cool band.
Title: Black on Black IIBand: HeartAlbum: Desire Walks OnYear: 1993I feel bad I cant get into their new one. So Im showing them love on this list. Desire Walks On is a cool album.
Dammit! I got 3 new zits since I started typing this out. These teenage years arent gonna be any fun!
