Classic Rock Bottom

Niels and myself are throwing you a change-up this week, as I'm hosting this feature and he will be hosting AOTW (watch for a mid week and a regular AOTW from Niels).  I'll stay true to Niels' format and give you 5 new videos and 2 classics.  As always, feel free to give a Cheese Factor rating on the classics.  This week I have Rival Sons, Hinder, Avenged Sevenfold, Vicious Rumors, Cold, Pat Benatar and The Rolling Stones for you.  Enjoy!

Rival Sons - Pressure And Time

Californian blues-rockers RIVAL SONS have premiered their brand new music video, for their new single, 'Pressure And Time'.

Drummer Michael Miley comments on the video: "I'm so fired up for the release of the 'Pressure And Time' video, which is the first single off our new album. We filmed this baby in about two days at about 23 different locations. Though it was fun as hell, loading and unloading 23 times was worse than moving into my apartment!! We had a blast and ate authentic vegan Mexican food and drank homemade vodka about a mile from the Mexican border. It was epic!!"

Hinder - What Ya Gonna Do

Hinder is an American rock band from Oklahoma that was formed in 2001 by drummer Cody Hanson, guitarist Joe Garvey, and singer Austin Winkler. The band was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame in 2007.  What Ya Gonna Do is off of their latest album.

Avenged Sevenfold - So Far Away

"So Far Away" is a song by the American heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold, released as the third single for their fifth studio album, Nightmare. It is the band's third single released without former drummer "The Rev", who died on December 28, 2009. In late March All Access Music Group mentioned that the third single from the album Nightmare would be "So Far Away", scheduled to be played on the radio starting on April 5, 2011.[1] In Avenged Sevenfold's "making of" series on YouTube, In the Studio, singer M. Shadows and bassist Johnny Christ say that the song was written by Synyster Gates as tribute to his best friend Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan.

This was Gates' first time writing an Avenged Sevenfold song completely. During most concerts the band performs the song as a tribute to the Rev by having the audience hold up their lighters or cell phones during the song as the stage background features a banner commemorating the Rev's legacy.

Vicious Rumors - Murderball

Vicious Rumors is an American power metal band founded in 1979 in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.

The brainchild of Geoff Thorpe, the band has been active on the metal scene since its inception in 1979. Vicious Rumors is recognized for their guitar works and harmonies, as well as the variety of their tracks.  Murderball is from their latest album.

Cold - Wicked World

Cold is an American post-grunge band, formed in 1996 in Jacksonville, Florida. With two gold-albums Cold has sold over one million records. On November 17, 2006, Ward announced on MySpace that, after a period of uncertainty since that February, the group had decided to disband. In July 2008, it was announced that the original line-up would reunite for a tour in early 2009. A new studio album is due for release in June 2011.

That was early. I'll watch and comment a little later today.
Yeah, I'll be pretty busy this week so I wanted to get it posted.

RIVAL SONS - 2 points

Holy shit, a good video/song you start up with. I could'nt see the video here, so I found it on YouTube. I'm going to buy this album for sure! New album out 20th june.

HINDER - 0 points

Ha ha ha, is it 1989 or what? They want to look like Mötley Crüe and sound like Guns'N'Roses, but they fall kind of flat. It ain't BAD, but it ain't good either. And I don't really like black and white video's, usually.

AVENGED SEVENFOLD - 0,5 points

You know, if it was me who had VOTW this week, this was the only video of these, I had planned to post, not because it's the best, but I had it ready to go, but I have of course deleted it now.

At least it's in color, and the song is okay, but I don't know, it's not really my scene, I feel to old to be buying their records, and the video is made for their little girl-fans, so they can see how tough they are.

VICIOUS RUMORS - 1 point

Ah, old school-Metal. Good riff and the song is okay. The singer looks like shit, and the video is rather booring.

I thought of Anvil, while I saw this video, I don't know why?

I've just heard 30 sec. of each 12 songs on the coming Rival Sons-album, and it sounds very promising to me. Great 70's sound, a lot like Led Zeppelin, a bit like The Doors. I'm DEFINETLY going to buy this one!!!!
The most recent Classic Rock Mag. has a free 6 song EP by Rival Sons.  This song isn't on it.  Very old school sound but I'm just not feeling it so far, other than the song in the video above.

Yeah, I found out last late last night, and I'll take a listen later today.

BTW, I've also heard 20 min. or something from the new Black Stone Cherry-album, and I'm NOT so sure anymore, that I'm going purchase that album.

I've changed my mind (I do that a LOT!!!). Unless someone else beats me to it, Black Stone Cherry will be in my next NMC.

The 6 songs on that Rival Sons-EP, are not on the forthcoming album, but I'll guess you know that, MSoTW Man.

Expect to see in NMC as soon as you get it...  Now Im fired up to hear it too....

COLD - 1 point

Song is good, but nothing I'm going to purchase. Video is STUPID!!

PAT BENATAR - 1,5 points

I was never a fan, but this song is good. I like "Sex as a weapon" better. I've meant to post this video a few times, but I never got around to it. The video is a stupid 80's Michael Jackson kind of video, but I've seen worse. Is'nt that Kevin Arnolds dad?

ROLLING STONES - 2 points

Classic! From the last really good Stones-album, and probably when they were in top-form at their concerts. I would have loved, to have seen Stones in '81 or '82. I saw them in '90, and that's better than nothing. Jagger is definetly one of the best front-men of all time.

Niels, no that is not Kevin Arnold's dad. He was played by Dan Lauria. The guy in this vid was the manager in the movie Bull Durham.

This is not the best video, but it is the only one I can find:

Yeah, of course you're right. Now I remember.

Vicious Rumors - "Murderball" - .5 points. The song is OKAY, but the singer sounds like he is trying too hard. The video itself is terrible. Too much of that quick jump cut stuff going on. It's like a bumpy car ride without the Dramamine.

Pat Benatar - "Love Is A Battlefield" - 1.5 points. High cheese factor for the video, but I love the song and the story aspect of the video is decent at least until that gawdawful dance showdown thing. And the father in the video is the guy who played the manager in Bull Durham.
