Anyone remember the 80's series we did a few months back? Thought it was cool, but for me, I've always had a sneaking suspicion about the 70's being a better musical decade. Time to find out.
So I'm going rogue, none of the other dudes that post forums on here know about this because they exclude me in their weekly collusion meetings. I'm good with it though, I like being independent.
Back to the 70's. It was the decade that I fell in love with music, it was also a decade of change. Tons of styles and fads as we will surely hear on this journey... The other reason I wanted to do this was to, in some way, beef up my early 70's collection. I was 4 on 1/1/1970 and 14 on 12/31/1979 so clearly those first few years of the decade are some that I would love to go back and hear more of.
So that’s that! 1970 is up first!

Poco - I know you are a fan. I believe Timothy B. Schidt was in the band. Maybe not for this song, don't really know. I do like the geeetar (no trademark infringement). But the song's not all that great to me.
Three Dog Night - I've heard this one. Didn't know it by name. It's a nice, easy listening track. Better than Poco I think.
James Gang - Wouldn't mind adding some JG to my collection at some point. Joe Walsh doesn't have a great singing voice, but he is a great rock singer. This song is really cool. And of course the geeetaring (no trademark infringement) is terrific, lead and rhythm playing.
Eric Clapton - Same as you guys, he's really hit and miss for me too. I've definitely heard this, and while I've never payed it much attention, I do like it. The bass really stands out to me. And of course the geeetar (no trademark infringement) smokes.
Led Zeppelin - I've always considered III to be my least favorite of Zep's first 4 albums. And although I've heard this song before, I've never given it much thought. It's quite haunting, musically and lyrically. How in the world have I never paid this any attention? Sweet song, makes me wanna listen to III now.
Song rank:
1. Tangerine
2. Let It Rain
3. Woman
4. Out In The Country
5. Hurry Up
Enjoyed this post Scott.
Thanks boss, here's my thoughts on your thoughts...
Poco: I do love this band, some of their later material would be better suited for your taste. If you've never heard it before, check out Legend! Unbelievably good... The 1970 album I posted was Schmidts debut, so he is on that track.
Three Dog Night: One of my faves, but yes easy listening for sure...
James Gang: You owe it to yourself to have Rides Again in your collection
Eric Clapton: Cant believe we all three agree... weird!
Led Zeppelin: Your missing out!!
Timothy B Who? How do you pronounce that last name?
Schmidt... like Schlitz Beer or schmooze even better, lol!
WHAT...you know, schmooze...work the room?
That filthy mind of yours, lol!
I think he was looking at my response and not RJ's...
