Album: Still Screaming
A comeback album, 21 years after their second album came out.
Reunited, they kind of went away. You know, 20 years will kind of do that to you.
Finally! I've been wanting to hear this whole album for a long time. And despite all of the great comments that I read regarding it, I'm a little disappointed. I find it quite average. Musically, it's very good, but from a songwriting aspect, I only find it average. I did like Winter's Call, which was very Led Zeppelin"ish" to me, and I liked the song Hard Driver, otherwise it was just okay. But I'm very happy to have heard it. Thanks Jon.
As far as the mystery song, I have absolutely no clue, but I like it more than any song on the Badlands album. I have no knowledge of NWOBHM bands, so I'll have to sit by and watch Scott and Niels come up with the answer, or I'll have to wait until next week to find out who it is.
Wow, you did not like this, RJHog? I think its one of my all-time favorites! The opening track, "High Wire", just comes out smokin', and slappin' ya upside da head. "Winters Call' is one of my all time favorite tunes. "Streets Cry Freedom", "Devil's Stomp", and "Ball and Chain" also kick major arse!
I remember being out in Los Angeles, Hollywood actually, when this was first released. It was getting a major buzz in the music industry. The cover was one of the huge, painted covers, that the famous Tower Records store had hanging on its outside wall, on the Sunset Strip. Only the biggest releases got the prestige of hanging on the Tower Records wall.
But, alas, Badlands never took off with the general public, like a lot of record industry people were expecting. Sad, because Jake E. Lee and Ray Gillen are both two of the best at their respective craft.
For some reason I can't respond directly to Rjhog's post of Legend...so I'll say
WHAT?
Rjhog guessed CORRECTLY????
Listened to this again today. This is definitely better on my second listen than I remember it being on my first listen. I really like Winter's Call, Streets Cry Freedom and Seasons.
