Classic Rock Bottom

Again, a little early, come to think of it, it will probably be tuesday, I will "present" VOTW the next couple of weeks, so there you go. As usual, 5 new video's and 2 classic video's. Here we go:

DUFF McCAGAN'S LOADED - DEAD SKIN

"Dead Skin”, the new video from DUFF MCKAGAN’S LOADED, the band led by VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N’ ROSES bassist Duff McKagan has been released. The song comes off the group’s new album, “The Taking”, which will be released on April 19 via Eagle Rock Entertainment. I've heard better songs from this album!!

THE SWORD - NIGHT CITY

The Sword have concluded their trilogy of music videos with the release of the “Night City” music video. The series of videos, which included “Tres Brujas” and “Lawless Lands“, were shot with Artificial Army (The Mars Volta, Dead Meadow).

ARCHITECTS - HEART BURN

“Heartburn”, the new video from British metallers ARCHITECTS, has been made available online. The song comes off the band’s latest album, “The Here And Now”:

WITHIN TEMPTATION - SHOT IN THE DARK

“Shot In The Dark” is the new video from Dutch female-fronted symphonic metal artists WITHIN TEMPTATION. The song comes off the band’s fifth studio album, “The Unforgiving”:

HIBRIA - SHOOT ME DOWN

“Shoot Me Down”, the new video from Brazilian metal artists HIBRIA, has been released. The song comes off the band’s third album, “Blind Ride”, which was released on January 26 via King Records in Japan (?!!!!).

QUEENSRYCHE - NIGHTRIDER

A very early song from Queensrÿche, from the EP, they released in 1983, written by DeGarmo/Wilton. I sure miss Chris DeGarmo in that band. Ah, well.

TNT - INTUITION

TNT is a Norwegian hard rock/glam metal band from Trondheim, formed in 1982. The band has released twelve studio albums, three EPs and two live albums while going through numerous line-up changes since its formation. This is from the 1989-album "Intuition".

Going out of order because

Within Temptation---1 point

Have this album  but haven't listened to it yet. It's a concept album so really can't judge by this one song but I do like it. It's a bit mroe mainstream than their earlier stuff, but not bad. Video was basic, but colder.

Queensryche - 1 point. Like the song, gawdawful video. As cheesy as Geoff Tate looks, at least then he didn't come off so damn pretentious. And they really lost something when Chris DeGarmo left the band. Even moreso because they had Kelly Gray replace him and he stunk.

TNT - 1 point. Run of the mill video but okay. TNT was a band I always TRIED to get into but never quite got there. I do like this song though.

Within Temptation - 1.5 points. I like the video for the way it is filmed to give the sense of mood to go with the song itself. The song is decent too.

Cool, that you also, are giving points now, TageRyche!!  What do you think of the Hibra-song? To me, it sounds like good old classic heavy rock, with a touch of "new sound".
The ones I wrote about were the only ones I listened to so I can't say anything about the Hibra-song.

DUFF McKAGAN ... .5 points
Vocally not verfy good, but muscially its not too bad!  Like the riffage!

THE SWORD ... 1.25 point
The more I hear this the more I like it, looks like this is going on my wish list ASAP.  .75 for the song and .5 for the vid

ARCHITECTS ... 0 points
eh...  THeres a bunch of Heartburn jokes that come to mind, but that would be too easy.  Lets just say I dont like this at all...  Now where'd I put those Tums?

Duff McKagan's Loaded---0 points

Knew this song was posted on here before and I didn't think it totally sucked then and still feel the same now. I also had a seziure at the beginning of the video because of all the flashing stuff and blacked out, but the wumman was nice. And just because the song doesn't totally suck doesn't mean it's good, for those that are wunderin'.

The Sword--2 points

Rjhog! LASERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Throwback video, throwback music. Wonderful, wonderful stuff. COWBELL! And groovy 70's 'stache! What more could you ask for?

Architects--1 minus point

Metal? Sounds like the recent whiny pop music. Had another seizure just because I could.

Duff McKagan's Loaded (2 points)

I like it.  It's not the strongest songwriting, but that's okay.  The vocals aren't the best, but they beat Mr. Coverdale.  But still, I like the song.  The video is cool to me.  I've always enjoyed blonds with big...personalities, so that far outweighed the risk of seizure (just take an extra dose of meds).  One question for Niels, are you gonna buy this album?

The Sword (2 points)

Absolutely killer song!  From the cowbell towards the end to the killer riffs (which really remind me of early Kiss), this song rules.  I've gotta listen to this album again.  The video is not the greatest, but it's not bad, so I'm giving it a point as well.

Architects (-1 point)

Minus 1 for the video.  There's absolutely no rhyme or reason to it.  The song's not terrible, but it's also not memorable, so 0 points there.  It certainly doesn't sound like a metal band.

Within Temptation - Video no longer available.

Hibria (-1 points)

This wasn't terrible song wise, but not anything I wanna hear again.  The video was dumb, so minus 1.

Queensryche (0 points)

Song isn't bad, but I'm more of a Queensryche fan with the more melodic stuff, like from Operation Mindcrime on (that doesn't mean I don't like any of their work before OM).  The video, especially Geoff Tate, is pretty cheesy, and is probably a good example of why most bands try to forget what they looked like back then.

TNT (0 points)

Decent, but very average glam/melodic rock from that period.  Now that I think about it, that may have been slightly ahead of it's time.  The opening riff is very Poison"esque".

You know, I'm not so sure. I really would like to buy the album, but.........I'm sure, it's THAT good!!??

Ah, well, tomorrow is the day, when I will buy the first "2011-album": Foo Fighters!! That album has got a few pretty good review's, and I REALLY like the "Rope"-song. It really grows on you.

From Operation Mindcrime and on, you say!! What about "Rage For Order", THE best album from 1986??

HIBRIA ... -2 points

I beg you please, shoot this band!

QUEENSRYCHE ... .5 points

Tate doesnt look good with long hair.  And this song isnt even in the top half of their good stuff.   I give them half a point for being Queensryche.

TNT ... -1 points with a cheese factor 8

Europe meets White Lion meets Poison meets Guiffira meets Autograph...  Cheese galore...

TNT's singer made me think of Mike Trampp.
Why does'nt anybody like Hibria??? Jon????
