We all have a soft side, admit it! Power Ballads play a big part of our musical lives, whether you like them or not. Remember that first really close slow dance with that special someone ? I do, and that song is in my list because of it! Regardless of if you do or don't, these songs do something to us. So now that Hidden Treasures has previewed some of these for you, lets find out who has the best taste when it comes to Power Ballads (hint: his name starts with "S") ...
Please review each of the 5 lists posted and tell us what we missed, what we got right, what you would have done different, and who's the biggest softie (or wimp if you see it that way ) ...

At first I thought Mike Mills was giving props to Jack Wagner with his number 20 pick...
You are absolutely right about who's list is best Scott, it's SRJhog's.
I seen that song too, and had the same thought... Just when I had finally got that song mentally wiped out of my mind, here it comes again!
Alllllll IIIIII NEEEEEED!
Actually, I can't make fun of that song, because when it was on the charts, I was a fan of it.
Awww Man, Jack Wagner was in play? I need an edit!
Imagine how much cooler he would have been had his name been Wack Jagner!
We should ban all Jack Wagner discussions and any other discussion that include any form of the word "Wack" ...
C'mon dude, Wack Jagner was very clever. You really have to "hand" it to me.
This is a personal opinion, but I don't consider Sweet Child Of Mind a Power Ballad, only because it's a bit too fast. But, although it's been played to death, it is a great song.
Then again, I don't really consider Closer To The Heart a Power Ballad either.
Structurally its the perfect power ballad! I wrestled with having it on my list, but the fact that its so overplayed took it off my list at the last second...
I wrestled with Bohemian Rhapsody as a power ballad, but it's an awesome song, worthy of any list. Despite the wikipedia definition, I always think hair band era, when I think power ballad. A lot of the songs listed, I consider to be great rock ballads, but not power ballads. There are even a few songs on my list that push the limits of what I feel is a power ballad & may be better suited on a rock ballad list.
