It’s been kind of a Judas Priest week around my place leading up to this new album. And I gotta say, it’s been worth it (like, when has it not been worth it!), I may keep going for a couple more weeks at least! And after 18 studio releases, I may be able to continue well beyond that!
Anyway, here’s this week’s big release, actually it’s the release of the year so far for me for a few reasons…
One last thing, I’m breaking with the scientifically proven and patent pending approach to posting New Music by adding two random middle tracks. Hey! the album is 14 tracks long and the first two have already been released so why not!
One more last thing… Don’t forget to click the album cover to listen and then lets us know what you think!

Looking forward to listen to this album, although I have some reservations after hearing: Firepower, Lightning Strikes and Never The Heroes on Youtube.
Thankfully, Youtube has this neat feature where you can increase the speed of the video. At 1.5 speed they do sound like Judas Priest. I hope the rest of the album is more exciting (and faster) than the first 3 tracks.
Judas Priest - Thumbs Way Up!
Wow! I'm not gonna write a lot. What I am gonna write is that this is stellar. Never The Heroes and Rise From The Ruins are outstanding. I mean, it's all very good. Halford still sounds amazing. I wish so much that I had listened to this band as a teenager.
And Sea of Red is pretty epic. I'll be getting this for sure.
So, I listened to the album earlier this week and must say that I came away mightily impressed. This is their best album since British Steel, there's not one track that's filler or a tossaway, just like BS. Went into this with low expectations, didn't listen to any preview tracks so went into it with a fresh, uncluttered mind and it just blew me away. Some stuff in here you guys generally don't like. Now, is this the metal album of the year? Don't know because I have a metal album that's over three hours long so you know that's epic and epic is usually the best. We shall see since I haven't even started on that album yet.
Holy crap! Three hours?
That's crazy!
Correction.
That's Therion for ya.
On second thought, maybe I'm not so impressed with this.
Nothing specific. Just a first full listen impression. It was kind of a cold listen.
But being completely serious, I really haven't been able to get into anything new lately. I've heard very little that makes me want to hear it again.
That being said, I do still want some more time with this one. Maybe it will help me get past this funk that I'm in.
