ROCKOLLECTIONS: MUSIC FOR MONEY & THE FINANCIAL CRISIS PT.8 CONCLUSION

Here is the finale of our look at Money and the Financial Crisis.

So I thought we would take a musical look at some of those who TAKE our money, and give little, if anything, in return.

That includes Unions, Gold diggers (not being sexist, they can be of either gender), and the biggest offender of all…the Government.

What do they care? It’s… Continue

ROCKOLLECTIONS: MUSIC FOR MONEY & THE FINANCIAL CRISIS PT.7

This is the next-to-last chapter, and opens with a song I am sure at least a few people have been wondering when I was going to play!

After that, one of the numbers I thought of during the layoff- another variation on that old Barrett Strong tune.

I won’t say who does it, but I will tell you that the group’s name sounds like something I would see during my worst hangovers,… Continue

ROCKOLLECTIONS: MUSIC FOR MONEY & THE FINANCIAL CRISIS PT.6

I am dedicating almost this entire episode to Gold.

It seems that when people lose confidence in their paper currency they turn to it.

While I can understand that, the problem with buying Gold is that it does nothing to help the economy, except for the seller.

People hoard it, an unproductive asset- while even leaving your cash in the bank… Continue

ROCKOLLECTIONS: MUSIC FOR MONEY & THE FINANCIAL CRISIS PT.5

Back on the Money & Financial Crisis case.

Since I last put out an episode, the Dow Jones dipped 1,000 points in about 20 minutes one day, Greece had to be bailed out (a freakin’ COUNTRY!), Spain’s rating has been downgraded, Ireland is in serious trouble, oil keeps spilling into the Gulf while BP & the Government, aka Dumb & Dumber, stand around with their thumbs up…well maybe their thumbs would be of better use… Continue

ROCKOLLECTIONS: MUSIC FOR MONEY & THE FINANCIAL CRISIS PTS. 3 & 4

THIS IS THE SERIES THAT GOT ME IN TROUBLE!

My computer is still out there in Lost Staplesland, and I will have more to say about that.

Just so you don't forget me, and coming off last night's avoiding a government shutdown BECAUSE of what I considered a Financial Crisis and still do, here is a series I did last…

THE BEATLES ABBEY ROAD PT.2

The original idea was very simple- like with their others, I would play the album and talk about it.

But things are never so simple.

The long length of The Beatles' Abbey Road album left little time to really get deep into it on a slightly less than hour show.

So it was decided we would do TWO shows, as the importance of the Beatles and the album, when originally released and still today, was of such a magnitude it would be worth it.

The use of the…

ROCKOLLECTIONS GOES TO THE MOVIES PT.6

Rockollections Goes To The Movies returns to the great Movies and Music of the 60's- I can't get out because I keep thinking of more terrific flicks and accompanying songs!

In fact, we'll begin with one that is maybe as known for its Soundtrack as for the Movie itself!…

ROCKOLLECTIONS GOES TO THE MOVIES PT.5

Continuing on with the Rockollections Goes To The Movies epic series, as I am inclined to do, I thought I would take a detour.

Movie Stars!

That's what I'll do- take a musical look at some iconic Movie Stars in this chapter.…

ROCKOLLECTIONS GOES TO THE MOVIES PT.4

One thing I'd like to clear up before anything else, I didn't mean to mislead anyone in the previous half hour- the Johnny Horton song, Sink The Bismark, was used in U.S. theater trailers for the film, it was not used in the film…

ROCKOLLECTIONS GOES TO THE MOVIES PT.3

As I continue our series, Rockollections Goes To The Movies, I felt that it was necessary to include Adult Movies...I mean why not?

Not that I've ever seen one, lol!

So, a tune for them from Steely Dan, which if you know the origin of their name, is altogether…

ROCKOLLECTIONS GOES TO THE MOVIES PT.2

In this chapter a look at how with the help of a Movie, the FIRST Rock & Roll song ever made it to the top of the Pop Charts- and not just here but all over the world.

The song had been released a year before and bombed, so the Movie was essential to its success!…

Back for a bit

Hey guys, its has been a while in deed. I am just getting over a bad bout of pneumonia that thanks to some wonderful medication left me with some nasty side effects. Thanks you stoopid f*#k doctor. I also (just prior to getting sick) finished up some schooling (top of the class if you can imagine that....and in Psychology at that) but I have signed up for another advanced course now, so I'll do my best to say in with The March Madness and keep in touch with all of my missed friends…

ROCKOLLECTIONS GOES TO THE MOVIES PT.1

Every now and then I take on a big topic, a long series- this will be one of them.

It's something I have wanted to do for years.

And since the Academy Awards, the Oscars, were just this past Sunday…

A DAY IN THE LIFE # 4

It's been quite a while since I posted an episode of "A Day In The Life".  I think I have probable cause to post one today.  Have you ever had one of those days?  You know, where you're just in a funk that you can't seem to shake?  I'm having one today.  There are many different reasons a person can be in a funk, from their spouse or significant other leaving them to being depressed for no reason what-so-ever.  My reason today would definitely be the latter, not the former.  So I'm…

2/22- THE POWER OF TWO! PT.2 END

I knew going into this that I would regretfully disappoint people by not playing their own particular favorite Duo- there are too many of them to please everybody.

But I will open this ending episide with a couple of biggies, ones that I knew I HAD to play.

Even as the show was progressing though, I was thinking of other Duos that I should play but wouldn’t have time for.

But that is what sequels are for- we’ll do it again some time.

I talked about what I thought was the…

2/22- THE POWER OF TWO! PT.1

Looking at the calendar, I see today is Feb. 22nd, or 2/22.

So all those 2’s were enough of a reason for me to play some of the great Duos in Rock.

And that is exactly what I will do.

The Indigo Girls have the perfect song for…

FOR A VALENTINES HANGOVER, A LOOK AT LOVE PT.2

Another Look At that part of Love that has the bumps in the road and the bruises that come with them.

All part of this Valentine's Hangover!

This time I'll start off with a reference back to last week, then a reference to the last half hour.

Including a song where we are the one doing the hurting, before we return to our safe haven as victim.

Then the…

FOR A VALENTINES HANGOVER, A LOOK AT LOVE PT.1

Well Valentine's Day has come and gone, and of course I hope you had a great one.

I myself worked late, lol!

Last week, we tried to get a handle on Love- using songs for what it is, what it can be, etc.

This week, the Valentines Hangover- a NOT all sweetness, flowers and candy musical investigation of the other side of Love- for that faction who wants nothing to do with it, and all others who have been stung by it.

In other words, if you are over the age…
